As an ex-FAAer there is one point regarding the pending influx of RJs into airline fleets that I have yet to see acknowledged. As passenger traffic returns, how does the industry expect the congested hub airports to handle the increase in traffic that will result from trying to move the returning passengers with smaller aircraft? The airspace required for a RJ is the same as all aircraft, except for a "heavyâ€￾. As aircraft with up to 200 seats are being replaced with those of under 100 seats the impact appears obvious. Has everyone forgotten about the delays, as well as airports with slot restrictions, that were common a few years ago?

Management will simply through more money at the Air Transport Association. Then the ATA will lobby the FAA to lower aircraft seperation limits and then we will have the "blind eye" type operations such as DCA, MDW and ORD among others! Remember there are "acceptable risks".

Sorry to get of topic!
