Special Report: Two major ALPA contract violations

U replacing 73''s with ERJ-195''s, as the 73''s age into retirement is hardly surprising, is it? What''s wrong with that? Wouldn''t pax prefer a comfy, roomy coach cabin with no middle seats?

I agree with you, RowUnderDCA. *gasp* I think for once U is actually leading the industry... we may have been paddy-last in the 50 seat RJ revolution, but the competitiors are not gonna know what hit them when these 170s start taking back the East Coast to its rightful owner

If these birds are a success (and I think they will be- Pax approval will be equal to the Airbuses, as far as mx etc we''ll have to see) the 190/195 would be the natural progression and a good replacement for the 737s. Then we can use the Airbus fleet for more long-haul opportunities now possible with the new UA/Star customer base...

Past Management''s fault? Past Management decisions for personal gain?

I guess you are trying to imply that this NEW management doesn''t have a thread of "personal gain" in-it-for-me" attitude. Of course not. They are just in it to see if they can save a company, right? Yea, I get it. They are in it to throw out 19,000 jobs and save the little staff we have left to barely operate a business, AND KEEP ALL OF SENIOR MANAGEMENT AND THEN SOME! Yea. I see the picture you are conveying. Ultruistic management who just want to SAVE A COMPANY.

Here''s an epiphany....all of management''s tongues are hanging out just waiting to suck any profits this company makes. Senior Officers get 7.8% stake; NOT counting bonus money for job performance. Not company performance; but their own job performance. They will make that profit if they have to force more jobs out, have 1 person perform three jobs on the lower end of the totem, and they will just sit back in their chairs and watch us work hours and hours more with less desposable income until we have no family left, financial ruin, sick with major hospital bills due to poor coverages, wait until you scream "uncle" and then have you replaced with the next "fresh face" that doesn''t have a clue to what''s in store, waiting to get ruined as well.

And then, this management will get very wealthy on our backs. Then, my friend, what will you say? Or do you think this is not a probability with this wonderful "labor friendly", exquisite, bring- home- to-dinner-to-meet-the-family, blame past management and all of labor for where we are today, kind of management?

DCAflyer replies:

Helloooo, Miss Union-Banner Waver... was WOpropTrash not blaming a UNION for the ills of this airline and was I not DEFENDING the union and BLAMING management. But since you brought it up, if it wasn''t for THIS managment, we would have been liquidated. There is NO way WolfGang could have or would have pulled it together. I will not say this management is labor friendy... not by a long shot. But compared to liquidation, the current employees have a choice to stay or not to stay. Don''t put words in my mouth. I don''t like the current situation one bit. But that doesn''t negate the fact that Wolf and Gangwal raped, pillaged, and plundered US Airways into near oblivion. Unfortunately, it is up to this management to shovel the sh*t that they left behind... and believe me there was a lot of it.

Large RJs Attract US Airways As Narrowbodies Age

So are the Jungle Jet 170 - 195''s not commuters? I have heard the ERJ refered to as the sewer pipe with jet engines...

Good luck, your going to need it, not me! I am buying my own airplane.

What''s the difference between a grave and a ditch? Yes, we don''t need you to inform us of ''resetting our expections.'' We''re actually a very bright group of employees....many of which are also doctors, CPA''s, lawyers, and aviation consultant''s. Need any help with making the right decision on your aircraft purchase, let me know!

DCAflyer,

I know you were NOT defending the Union...god forbid. PAST management made a profit, if you were around then, for 4 straight years. AND you believe liquidation was possibility. I believe it was NOT probable; look at United, they will be here for a long, long time and their doing USAirways style, so will the rest.

So, the difference here and where the line exists is YOU believe managment liquidation threat and I believe it was their "trump card" to crippling labor. Won''t happen again, promise.

And IT IS NOT MANAGMENT SHOVELING SH*%, BUT THE RANK AND FILE EMPLOYEES PICKING UP THE #### AND SHOVELING IT...start getting it straight already.

Bob,

I am not trying to get you started. But, my position stands. 19,000 jobs are gone, AND the flights are at FAA minimums. Those sandards are from the 60s and much has changed since then. The f/a are burning out. That's a fact, something I hope you won't experience up there.

However, the INCREASE in senior mangement is noteable. I know...they have much to do to increase revenue and PROVIDE customer servive.

Don't get ME started!

From what I see.......

There is more management now than ever before. Just look at PIT Line Maintenance. In the Overhaul area they even have one Utility Supervisor doing clerical work.

-But these guys know what there are doing. So I am told.

-I am still so confused. Hehe.

Oh yeah, welcome back Chip. You have made me seethe with anger and wonder what you may have been smoking in the past, but you have also made well thought out posts as well. Nice to see you back.
