Ok back to the rumors.  Why hasn't local 514 shown any support with 591 and Peterson's letters to the NMB about the SCAM this alliance is trying to pull off right now?   If anything they should have put out a letter of support or a letter against everything he wrote to the NMB, BUT, nobody has done anything,  wonder why that is?  Hmmmmmm...

Dear Local 541 and 542 Members:
 
Earlier today (Friday, July 25, 2014), the International Executive Council – upon recommendation of the International Administrative Committee – voted unanimously to place your Local into a temporary trusteeship and to suspend all Local 541 and Local 542 officers while we conduct a full investigation of serious wrongdoing, and violations of the International Constitution, federal law and their oath of office.
 
As such, I have appointed International Vice President Gary Shults to administer all affairs of Local 541 and 542 until further notice.
 
Additionally, the International Administrative Committee will immediately impanel a three-person subcommittee of the International Executive Council to hold timely hearings to evaluate the conduct of Local 541 and Local 542 officers and to determine whether the allegations against them warrant further action.
 
The suspended officers will have ample opportunity to explain their actions, call witnesses, and otherwise defend themselves against these allegations.
 
While regrettable, this action was necessary to preserve the assets of the Local, ensure proper member representation and protect the integrity not only of Locals 541 and 542, but of our entire organization and all its affiliates. We believe the unanimity of the International Executive Council in taking this decisive step reflects the gravity of this situation.
 
Please be advised that actions taken today (July 25, 2014) were a result of violations of Article XVIII, Section 3, and Article V, Sections 4 to 6 of the International Constitution. A copy of the International Constitution can be found on the TWU website (www.twu.org) under the drop-down menu “Members,” subsection “Resources.”
 
The International will continue to keep you apprised of this situation. We ask that no unfair or uninformed judgments be made until the investigation takes place and a decision is rendered by the Subcommittee. In the meantime, feel confident that International Vice President and Administrator Gary Shults will protect your rights as a member of the TWU and the valuable assets of your Locals.

I agree with you both.  Too bad there is no language allowing the membership the option to remove the local leadership.  Therefore these leaders have NO ACCOUNTABILITY at all, they can do what ever they want with no fear of losing their positions.   Sad to sit on the side lines and watch.  It's time for you guys to change unions so the membership can hold the local and above officers accountable for all their actions, at least with AMFA any and all officers can be removed by the membership without changing the entire union representation...

Jetnet said average premium increases are $60 per month.  Deductibles are going up also.  This should surprise nobody as we have been giving back raises for a long time.  Of course we must remember that from 2008 to 2012 we didn't even get the raises in pay while AA jacked premiums up.  I wonder how the pilots and FAs got caps on their premiums way back when but the TWU couldn't get that even though they gave away so much more than any other union.  We also found out AA management was paying less for the same coverages that we were getting.  We were supposed to get more equity for that but when you figure in the 14% grabbed by the international we end up getting screwed again.  Need I remind you that we are paying for this kind of representation?

Yep, just saw the new  cost and mine in medical alone is going up $65 a month...add in the union due increase and that $75 monthly raise I worked hard for just disappeared.

Funny how that works huh? Your deductibles are going up too.  You get a buck and they take two back.  But our Union dues still go up.  Why are these guys still around?

Our dues go up and the TWU/IAM negotiate a pay raise based on what non union mechs are given by delta management. We should be paying dues to delta's management.

Just got the pamphlet from the company in the mail with the prices. I'm single and have the Value Plan. It's going up by $17.20. Nothing to get that worked up about.

Oh and your Union dues are 2 times your base hourly rate. Been that way since day 1 you hired on. You get a raise and it increases. Most unions do a flat rate irregardless of how much time you have in the company or how much you earn. A guy with 20 years will pay the same rate as a guy walking in the door.

Do you cats prefer something like that? :huh:

I think they prefer a UNION they control instead of a UNION that has control over them.
 
I think they prefer a UNION that does not use intimidation and manipulation. 
 
Most of all I think they want to see a return on their investment. They pay TWU for a service and TWU does not and has not provided it.
