As much as I enjoy flying, I can't see myself sitting straight reserve for the next 20 years or so...actually I won't be sitting straight reserve for the next 20 years (or even 10 years)...it just doesn't work for me because you can't have any type of life...I hope I can survive the next 2 years because after that I am out of here. I really love the aviation industry but I can't take it anymore.

I seriously cannot believe that reserves are still wasting their time by pushing for a rotating reserve system. It is the single most miserable part of the contract at many other airlines, and not the answer for our continued reserve pain. A new reserve system built for a "no growth" airline is the answer, not "punishing" more people by making them deal with this insane system.

And, I will say it again. I don't care how many of our senior friends promise you up and down that they will vote for a rotating system, when it comes time to vote, they WILL NOT. Period. End of story. If the union were focused on negotiating such a dumb idea, I would be out protesting in the streets. No blockholder, either primary or secondary, is going to "vote" themselves onto reserve. Get real.

Can we get on with the real contract issues now?

I hate to say it but I have to agree that I don't think a rotating system would be voted in. People are self serving and ultimately care about themselves more than the group as a whole. Maybe if we keep giving our flying to Republic and Air Whisky we will keep shrinking and shrinking and maybe if this reserve system keeps sucking @$! like it does enough of us will be furloughed or will quit and then the 25 years will be back on reserve.

The topic is off AFA's table so why are we beating this dead horse over and over again?

US Airways stews need to grow up. There are two options for the future, either A- Die or B- be lucky enough to be swallowed whole by a big boy airline. If B happens there will be no bud sheet, no clinging to the pilots, and reserve will not be a lifelong sentence. Get over it. The BID SHEET puts four times as many people on reserve than at other carriers, not rotation. Other carriers divide time more evenly, they don't have half the airline sit so a select few can change their schedule on a daily basis. The US system is ridiculous.

VA is correct, maybe if you weren't attached to a moronic group of pilots, maybe there wouldn't be huge alter ego airlines on the property doing all the flying and there would be a bigger airline and growth. But what you have now us a very small airline that hasn't grown in a decade and without a merger never will. Start playing fair or everyone below you will quit- trust me, they have more skills, are more employable, and have much less to lose. When they do, you'll be left to enjoy what you negotiated.

Reserves should vote no to anything OTHER than rotation.

Our bid sheet would be a dream come true for flight attendants at other carriers. They don't have this flexability. Should you ever become a BH you'd understand this.

Our bid sheet doesn't put anyone one on reserve. I don't know where you got that bit of stupid information.

May I suggest you educate yourself a little better about the airline industry as a whole before you make foolish remarks about something you have no clue about??

Since you consider yourself so "more skilled and employable" with nothing to loss why don't you just quit.

My my Miss Daisy it sure is gettin hot in the kitchen here!
Yezzzzum
I can not wait for this road show. I am bringing my popcorn, hockey stick and taser!

What flexability tdo you have and other's don't have? I know we can pretty much do anything with very few limit's. We can drop, pick-up, piggy back, pick up the day of in pretty much any base, trade as often just for the hell of it. The only airline I know that come's close to mirroring Continental is DL. I am always looking for new idea's on improvement's. Thanks.

I believe that those who attended the Reserve meeting were told to contact their local reps and tell them they wanted a rotating reserve system. If that is the case then it really isn't off the table.

Can someone explain to me why a much larger carrier like Delta/NWA is able to have an "A" day system that works, yet we are unable or should I say unwilling to explore that option. The most senior people don't get A days and as you move down the seniority ladder it goes to 3 A days with the most junior people getting 6 A days. The group that would most likely get the 3 A days are the people that are occasional block holders. If they're able to make it work why can't we? or why is the JNC so reluctant to explore that option.

A system like that would give everyone a better quality of life. There would be no more endless sitting around in the winter months twiddling our thumbs. Can someone tell me why this is such an impossibility at US.

Z - It is off the table. Read the recent e-lines. I'm not sure which date but it was the one that went over the CLT rsv meeting. They flat out said they are NOT going to bring that to the company.

Good. Talk about wasting the JNC's time. That would be shot down so fast in a vote, heads would spin. Despite what Alice and Betty promise you on the jumpseat as you descend into Rome...

I'm a RSV, but I make the most of the cards that I've been dealt...I pick up some ETB time and every month I get paid around 100 hours for flying only around 65-75. How sweet is that?!! I'm also a commuter, but I have to say that our Scheduling Dept. is usually very kind about releasing us early....so I look at being released early as another day(s) off to replace the INV/OFF day(s) that I'm working on. The B/Hs can have that 'flying 100 hours to get paid 100 hours'.

We are NEVER going to get a rotating reserve system...so be creative, be flexible and enjoy yourself.

I would KILL to be able to pick up on my days off! KILL! It's something I have addressed with our union (CO) and something as a reserve that will make me VERY happy.
