Statement to the Membership of Council 70

Let me start off by saying that over the past year it was a true pleasure to serve the membership of Council 70 in AFA. I can say without hesitation I put my heart and soul into advocating and defending the membership. I always had the best interest of the flight attendant at heart.
After the E-line sent yesterday from the LEC President in Philadelphia, I could not just remain silent. The LECP’s E-line is biased as she attempts to hold onto a position in which is shelf confesses she can’t discharge as neutral toward defending flight attendants and fellow union members. Her E-line is also yet another example of her misuse of the Presidency as the E-line system was never intended for personal attacks, especially ones that have no truth.
It’s no secret the LECP in Philly was being charged with a possible recall for failure to properly represent the membership of Council 70. Surely whenever any of you have worked with the LECP even on an aircraft you know it’s her way or NO WAY. We should have heeded the words from the sidelines stating “she will micromanage everything and your life will never be your ownâ€. Words to remember as she forced others to live by her rules, yet blatantly took advantage of a position at every opportunity. I instead even after getting berated by Ms. Albert in 2001 over getting furloughed naively gave her the benefit of the doubt when others smartly stepped away from her knowing the ultimate outcome. She never even thought that the CWA convention in Las Vegas would be a great opportunity for some of her committee members and instead took her husband.
Over the past year I witnessed horrific confrontations over the most simple of issues with flight attendants. The LECP seem to take every phone conversation to an all out argument in 3.2 seconds flat. One time slamming the door in a flight attendants face when she came into the office with a problem and another time yelling into the phone “you have used up your $39.00 this month…try again next monthâ€. The past year was a display of anti-union actions and comments on the part of the LECP. I will not participate in the advocating of discipline when you’re most important duty as a union representative is to protect your members. She states leeks came from her office and well, that is simple a figment of her imagination as I never breached such trust.
The LECP alleges in her E-line that she was not aware my days off were moved so I could be in the office to answer phones, attend meetings and so forth during business hours. Well, that is blatantly false as the LECP always knew my schedule and wanted me in the office as much as possible. Ask the LECP how many meetings at the airport she attended since she took office? They can be counted on one hand I assure you. She also had full access to my CATS screen up until my PIN was changed a week ago. Did she also forget conversations with Labor Relations, Scheduling, Supervisors and supposedly AFA about my schedule? All I was assured was approved and above board since I was taking trips on my days off. How quickly we forget when she tries to spin the truth into lies. Also, I never rearranged my schedule as I don’t have the authority to do so, only an AFA officer.

In parting, I no longer view this website as the personal attacks on everyone seemed to be getting out of hand. Does anyone ever call and ask a simple question of the AFA officers or just use this forum to bash people without the facts? The petition for a Special Meeting of Council 70 is going around Philly. I would hope everyone would ask question and get the facts. Terry, Mariellen nor myself can recall the LECP, only the membership by vote. The Council 70 officers calling for this special meeting will happily share the evidence in an open forum to the membership….A SPECIAL MEETING. If the LECP is as upstanding and honest as she states, why is she blocking a meeting with recall on the agenda? If there’s no merit to the facts then the matter drops then and there and the members present vote the action down. Even if a recall was voted upon at the Special Meeting, that only generates a ballot to the membership in which 2/3 must vote to remove her from office. With such a stellar record defending the flight attendants I really don’t see she has anything to fear from this meeting right? This was just a statement and I won’t be going into tit for tat as that should be done at a meeting of the membership. Also, in parting the LECP threatened HR charges if she found Terry, Mariellen or myself “talking about herâ€. So, behind closed doors with the membership it will be as it should.
The membership of Council 70 deserves better and I hope they stand up and speak for themselves. If not, it will be almost 2 years before another election. You choose your leaders so stand up and make your voice known.

You know that what you have been doing with regards to getting 105 and flying ETB trips on days that you are available for company flying is nothing more than....well don't beieve I even need to say it. Well I've met both TG & TX and one I would trust with my life, the other I wouldn't trust with the money it cost to buy breakfast at Cibo.

The weirdest thing is that TX told me the JG story and how exaclty it was going to play out over 30 days prior and IIRC it happened just like she said. So now we know who I believe.

I have great difficulty with people who won't eye contact when you speak, who shift their eys and body lauguage. It makes them look like they're lying. TG when I met her behaved in this manner.

If TG is behind the recall I'd question what it is she has to gain.

I was there when you "met" TG. You started off by attacking her. Had TG not handled you, I would have decked you. She saved your ass. Two other pilots witnessing your cretinous behavior dumped on me for not "cleaning your clock". You have no idea how close you were to the hospital.

TG has nothing to gain and everything to lose from this. TG agonized over this, just as she did with TX. We talked a lot over both items. She has more resources than you could ever know, Vadican cardinals as well as top constitutional attorneys. She explored them all, looking for an honorable way out for all.

To imply she has something to gain from this is asinine cynicism, as well as rank ignorance. If she wanted to be president, she would have run for that. If she has any fault, it is that she is ruled by her heart, which, I find, is not so bad. Her street smarts are beyond reproach.

Yeah, I'm biased. Yet, I can back every statement up with witnesses or recordings. What do you have, other than pathetic, scurlious and possibly libelous gossip?

You are correct.

Michael has every right to present his side which I am sure is exact and even more worse than he can state on this forum.

Teddy Xidas is giving Laura Albert exactly 24 hours to make a retraction in her E-line to her members that stated this:

"When I was elected into this office a year ago July, I had vacation that

This statement falsely implies that the MECP in 2005 gave permission for Laura to get PAID above her 105 international pay because she had vacation and had company meetings and training.

There is no way in HELL that the MECP would give permission for any officers to bank or get paid out vacation as THIS IS CALLED " VACATION FLY BACK" and was not offered to any f/a in any base for the entire year of 2005. No Union rep can receive more than the f/as contractually. It is NOT in the MECP jurisdiction of union authority to give permission for an LECP or any officer to bank or get paid out extra for missed vacation. AFA will NOT bank vacation time or pay out time for an LECP that has a company meeting..EVER! There are 3 officers in a base, send someone else if you are on vacation!

If a Union Officer has vacation and they are in NEGOTIATIONS, or extinuating circumstances they can ASK PERMISSION FROM ONLY THE AFA INTERNATIONAL SEC/TREAS TO BANK OR GET PAID OUT FOR MISSED VACATION. AND IF GRANTED IN WRITING BY THE AFA INTERNATIONAL SEC/TREAS, it is paid out from the dues$$ budget from that particular base OR banked with AFA until such time the Officer either reschedules it or cashes it in through AFA International which again gets deducted from the Base's AFA budget allotment. There is no MECP or Company manager that banks up vacation for negotiations; only AFA International to be later deducted from the AFA bases' local budget of dues $$.

The AFA International will not extend this priviledge for and LECP that has meetings with company. And if they have some kind of AFA training, they can ask permission from AFA International to bank the vacation...this request MUST be in writing.

How she managed to get paid her vacation in addition to the 105 flight hours was that the company sees she has vacation and automatically is included in payroll. She then took it upon herself to submit an AFA claim 105 International hours (additional) to the MEC Sec/ Treas who then submits all union rep/committee hours to the company for payment. The company then bills AFA international who takes these monies from union dues $$.What she should have done was either notify the AFA International SEc/ Treas to get permission to bank vac. days for training, OR deduct the vac. pay from her 105 flight pay loss. She did neither.

I was included in an e-mail where Teddy is waiting for a retraction....

If she sincerely believes that her members believe she has Integrity for 51 years (her quote), then I am sure she will make this retraction/correction so as not be be a blatant liar! :angry:

You are a good guy, and we appreciate your hard work, as well as TG's. Ignore the hatred, it stems from a jealousy and a bitterness in some people that you should be happy you do not have in you. 99% of the membership appreciate your work.

TG actually did quite well, disarming him and, I think, actually winning him over.

Believe me, it was pretty tough standing there, as well as watching two fellow pilots making motions that implied "smack him".

But, as I said, TG did quite well. She is a good person. but then, I am biased.
