Hmmm....they created all those jobs despite the "job killing Obamacare" and despite no tax cut.

Where it killed job creation were non skilled minimum wage jobs. Higher employee cost are just another barrier for small startups to overcome. That is where your "job killing Obamacare" comes into play. There is also the fact that higher employee cost tends to accelerate automation.

If the narrative if false about jobs not being created, how come such a dire picture was being painted while Obama was president? How come nobody on the right could see all these jobs then? How come there were so many posts about the highest unemployment...and the lowest workforce participation under Obama. You really can't have it both ways....either jobs WERE being created and we don't need a massive tax cut, or we HAVE to have a massive tax cut because no jobs were created under Obama. That's YOUR sides narrative, not mine. It's rather refreshing to see a righty admit that hey....jobs WERE being created under Obama.

The fact is jobs were always out there and available in most places (maybe not some like say Detroit). Even during the height of the recession I could go out and find work and in fact I did during a layoff.

The right was not worked up about lack of jobs, they were worked up about people choosing welfare over work participation for the jobs that were available and lack of accountability by the government or the welfare recipients.

Why should I as a taxpayer be expected to provide you welfare benefits when you refuse to take advantage of employment opportunities in your area just because you think they are "beneath" you.

Take a snowflake that claims they can't find a job and show them the employment section of a Sunday paper, an internet job board, and 20 help wanted signs in an hour within 2 miles of their home and ask them what their excuse is then and watch them spaz out.

I think my theory is true....let's look no further than....the airline industry. After Continental and United merged...they had some real problems. Problems that took money and people to solve. They had two billion dollars hanging around...that can go a long way towards improving the product and service you are providing. Gordon Bethune used his pizza analogy....you can cut a little to save money, but you can eventually cut too much to the point where you don't have a pizza anymore. So UAL made cuts to cover the costs of their merger and to eliminate "redundncy" (read - cut jobs) and they did...to the point where they didn't have a pizza anymore. They needed to spend a little...to increase staff a little to bring their service levels up and create DEMAND for their product. What did they do? Used all two billion to buy back stock. That didn't create a single job. And a tax cut would only have allowed them to buy back even more.

If you had two airlines fully staffed that merged and created job redundancy that required layoffs why the hell would they need to hire people. They had too many to start with. I think what you were actually seeing was the result of attrition.

You saying they needed staff to bring service levels up and create demand (which is ludicrous because you either need to fly on one of their routes or you don't) is not acceptable if you can't provide examples of where they were deficient and how hiring more people would have mitigated the issue.

Oh yeah....and I'd buy the tax cut talk if the middle and lower classes got the bulk of them....I mean if THEY get a noticable tax cut, they might actually buy things like plane tickets. But when you give a tax cut to a guy who has a fleet of G-V's, he's not likely to put that money into the airlines. Unless of course he gets the wild hair to create a NEW airline that offers super low fares for the middle class who can't afford a ticket on a REAL airline. All they need to do is staff it with people paid less than the soon to be abolished minimum wage. It's win/win. The rich guys get their fun money, and the middle class gets bent over, ridden hard, and put away wet.

Here's how it would work....if a business...I don't care if it's a mom and pop business or a corporation like Hormel or Tyson...hires illegals, then they will be fined an amount that is damn near a business killing rate. Not a slap on the wrist $500 fine, but a REAL fine....something like 50% of their revenues. Something that would really get their attention. They would not have an incentive to hire 'cheap labor' and would fill those jobs with Merrican citizens. But if they did and paid the fine....if they are caught again - jail time for the execs of a large business or the owners of a small business. I can't think of many people who would be willing to spend a few years in prison to save a few bucks in labor costs.

While T Rump has painted a picture of 11 million Mexican rapists, most of the illegals send their money back home...they'd eventually like to go back home, believe it or not. If you take away the jobs via significant fines and jail time for the BUSINESS, there will be no reason for them to come here. And they will stop coming. It's pretty simple really.

Of course, there is a downside. Some of your products and services will cost more. It will cost more to have a roof on your house or to have your lawn landscaped. Processed meats and chicken will cost more. But that's a small price to pay to keep the illegals out, isn't it?

Automation is coming anyways...it's better for shareholder value. And I'm old enough to remember my health insurance rates rising year after year well before Obamacare. Expecting an employer to provide health care is NOT way to encourage small businesses to start up. But that's the way we dit it back in the good old days. Obamacare reminds me of the story or Brer Rabbit when it comes to insurance companies...."Brer fox whatever you do, don't throw me in that briar patch"...the government required all Americans to partake of their service..if a person couldn't afford it, the government PAID the insurance company for them. Once they overturn Obamacare, how quickly should we expect to see our rates drop? I won't hold my breath.

The employment section of the Sunday KC Star is 4 pages...the front page story, a half page of the NYT Crossword puzzle, another half page for the answers to the puzzle and one and a half pages of "help wanted" ads, as well as items for sale.

Missed the point. After the merger UAL service levels dropped horribly. Way behind the other airlines. They company had two billion dollars on hand, but they didn't feel the need to use any of it to create jobs....they did a stock buyback. How will a tax cut make them create jobs?

You either fly on one of their routes, or you fly on one of American, Delta, Southwest, Frontier, or other airline that happens to be flying the same routes. Want an example of how more people would help? How about the "voice automated phone reservation line"? My brother couldn't stand it...he had a fart machine and used it on that thing and ended up with it giving him a trip from Omaha to Bejing. But....if United, or any other company doesn't need any more employees....where will the tax cut go to help create any jobs? If a company doesn't need workers, a tax cut for the wealthy isn't going to create any....despite what Laugher says.

That would be a tax increase for me. A pretty significant one too, since most "flat tax" plans call for eliminating deductions such as home mortgage interest. My effective tax rate today is about 17%..and that's AFTER claiming all my "loopholes".

It's not so much a problem as a philosophy. To the right, nothing works as well as a tax cut. Need to go to war? Let's cut taxes. Want to rebuild the infrastructure? Then let's bring those tax cuts down. Want to cure AIDS? A tax cut is just what you need. Problems with hemorrhoids? A soothing tax cut will help.

I went to school for retraining. I paid for over half of it myself. I graduated Friday and had a job the following Monday at HP.

I could have just sit on welfare for the last 3 years playing the victim and I would not hear a peep from the libtards.
