Who is dumb enough to work outdoors in the PHL winter for minimum wage? US can't even get people to work for $7.17 an hour.

Hundreds of US Airways employees called in sick yesterday and today...100 flights were canceled across US Airways' system yesterday, many of them due to crew shortages.

Well, you guys outdid us...we had 75 cancellations Xmas eve due to crew shortages (UAL).

We've got goodwill over here too!

Oh ........I have read these boards for almost 2 years and rarely post. This is for the people that have allegedly called in for a sickout. You guys are cutting your own throats and mine. First, you may get fired. Second, you totally screwed over your fellow co-workers by not showing up. Third, you messed with the flying public over a holiday. This is Christmas when families are gathering and count on us to get them and their gifts to Grandma's. Now it is a national incident. If the flying public did have any sympathy about our plight, they sure don't now. They think we are all selfish. THANKS!

The next couple of weeks should be very interesting. Im sure our "talented" VP of Labor Relations still has some tricks up his sleeve he hasnt yet pulled out. I would be thinking very hard about that if I decided to walk off the job or not come to work. Best of luck to everyone.

If it was organized it would have been systemwide, not one city.

Didn't say it was an organized sickout.....said "allegedly". If it was organized, it would have been more than one city. That is not to say that a certain grou in a certain station that decided to do something on its own couldn't do it, but most likely not union sanctioned.

It used to be that you were very well compensated for working every holiday, weekend, all outside and on whatever odd shift your seniority allowed. At some point its not worth the sacrifice. Your employees will treat your customers the way you treat your employees.

$353,000,000 divided by 9,000 baggage handlers, mechanics, stock clerks and cleaners equals $39,222 per each employee effected on average.
WOW! I am feeling sick too.
[post="231488"][/post]

at least that 39,222 is a lot more livable than our nearly 24000 a yr as a mainline express cities have to live on especially in a time when there arent a whole lot of jobs with good pay out there. i wish that we could at least gain say 2 mor dollars but i am not counting on it as i know the iam doesnt care about the agents in mainline express cities. just my 1 penny cent

Some people in that group only make $33k per year, they will have to pay to come to work.

This whole thread was started based on a rumor that was never verified.

It also includes this ridiculous rumor. "Jan. 6 the company will step up and fix the PHL problem, I have heard through our the base mgr. and acting station PHL mgr. we will be getting rid of all ramp personell and try outsourcing all baggage handling, should be interesting."

Here is my rumor. My dog tells me today the people responsible for determining PHL staffing levels and anticipating problems before they occur were given pink slips for Christmas.

whats your dog got on the super bowl???

I personally dont know what caused the problem, but the results made FOX news! People constantly ask me if they should buy tickets on US cause they know I used to work there. what else can I say but NO WAY?

Maybe the creditors that apparently INSISTED that UAIR cram these stupid paycuts down all the employee's throats will begin to have second thoughts.

Sorry the dog isn't a football fan. More interested in eating trash and licking itself. That is where it gets inside information from U management.
