If you have to work under it then it is your contract, regardless of how you voted.Slopoke said:The only thing that I have voted yes for was the extension back in the very early 90's, because it took a lot of us to top scale in pay and I've voted no on all of the other contracts, so don't say they were my contracts.
I was just pointing out to OldBubba that the things that were just rammed down managements throat were things that they have to accept. We on the other hand have control over our destiny. The bad thing is that we currently have a union that gets the sheep to go their way. I hope they had their eyes opened by the last screwing and say enough and vote in a different union.
Who is they?WeAAsles said:Well that didn't take too long. Here they come to take hostage another thread. Same old song and dance.

The boo hoo children, the inciters, the reactionists, the agenda crew, the pessimists, the malcontents, the dissatisfied, the fist shakers and foot stompers, and just about anyone who wants to hijack a thread with off topic same old same old tangents and rants.La Li Lu Le Lo said:Who is they?
Pretty easy to notice that your only motivation is to make every thread or posting a twist into how bad the TWU is. So who is it really that doesn't care about other people who might just be coming on here to see if they can get information?La Li Lu Le Lo said:WeAAsles, on 13 Jun 2014 - 08:50 AM, said:

Are they you or are you they?
I guess I got under your skin huh?

Lower management is always the testing ground. I'm not really concerned about it when it comes to us right now. Say the company pays for Long Term and Short Term and it's a 100% payout after the 8 days? And just because low management is getting hosed with an $8 per day payout doesn't mean we're jumping on that bandwagon.
The simple fact is you have been conditioned by TWU us vs. them propaganda.
It is super NOT OK with me that American Airlines takes advantage of ANY employee, UNION or not.
What does this have to do with the TWU or any Union for that matter at the moment? I stated a fact that management and support staff are usually a testing ground for what they would "like" to do with the rest of the employees.
So no, until something is on my desk to look at or sign I'm not that concerned about it regarding us.

Oh really? Your last two contracts say otherwise.
I mean unless you WANTED those concessions............
Let's not forget the stall, stall, stall, stall, file bankruptcy tactic that airlines love to use so often to force bad contracts...... did you have a say in that??
It offends me that some (like you) could care less because they "have a contract" (which the TWU/government has refused to enforce time and time again) that they think protects them. It might today......... tomorrow.... who knows?
What makes you think that someone from, accounting, payroll, IT, or any of the other thousand positions behind the scenes that make American Airlines work deserve to lose pay and benefits?
To me this is not about nonUNION and management.... this is about the employees of American Airlines being taken advantage of....... again.......
I was simply demonstrating that a contract will not shield you from these cuts tomorrow, so why would not speak out about them now?
I thought the whole idea behind UNIONs was fair treatment of labor. Yet you could care less when American Airlines abuses it’s nonunion employees. I mean it does not affect you..... right?
Go back to Jetnet and read the details. It's an "IMPROVEMENT" over what they have now.

Was told by an MOD that they will be cashed out at the end of the year at $8 per day that's in their bank. They will get 8 days per year starting next year that they have to use or lose. With that they'll be given Long Term and Short Term disability insurance. Forgot to ask if they'll have to pay for that or not? He didn't say anything about Non Union people and I was told the day before this thread was started.

Nah why. Reacting before reading is human nature.

Ok here's a PDF with the full details. They will still get to keep the sick bank they've already accrued. And it says Management and Support Staff. I do not think that includes the agents.
And the payout at retirement is $8.65 per hour. Not per day.
Lot's of details including a HRA. (Health Retirement Account)
https://corpcomm.jetnet.aa.com/pdf/hr_brochure_legacy_aa.pdf
First you spread misinformation before you saw it in print, then you accuse people of being reactionary.
Are you the pot or the kettle today?
I stated what an MOD (Manager) had told me "AFTER" the reactionary thread had already been started. When someone stated that the details are on Jetnet to view, I did so. Finding out and then posting that what they are implementing is "BETTER" than what they previously had. I guess that you browsed passed all that?
I am a Union guy. But I agree with you and as a Union guy please accept my apologies for those who hijack the conversations. It's the very small handful that make us all look bad.UPNAWAY said:This was a thread about non union issues and of course it gets derailed by the union folks.
Deleted double post. Response below.iluvaa said:I don't see how anyone can call this an improvement. 67% pay with the insurance sure sounds like a loss of 32% pay to me. And anyone that was a good employee and didn't use there bank only gets 8.60 an hour for it compared to let's say 30 an hour for those that used there's already. And yes I read the policy on jet net so anyone that thinks this is a plus, please feel free to try one more time to convince me this is a good deal
WeAAsles said:Ok. Taking as an example what I get under my CBA. I get 5 sick days per year. (Not sure if Non Union get's more) Most people now at that low accumulation rate blow through there 5 per year and don't save any. Under the new policy you keep what you have already accumulated. I assume if you go over the new 8 you can still use what's in your bank before hitting the insurance?
Ok I just reread over this part and it does not look like you can utilize your bank since they do use the word "frozen"
I would ask to know if this was true and if it is this is not a good part.
Now I already pay for long term and short term insurance. Operative word "PAY" And the payout for that if I dip into it is a less percent than what the company is going to be providing free. So now I can if I chose continue to pay to offset the difference and make it 100%. And I will probably be paying less than I currently pay to make up the 32% loss.
Under my CBA when I retire I can chose to cash out at a measly $25 per day currently. Not $8.60 per hour or $10.62 that I can put into an HRA to pay for some of my medical when I retire.
If that part I posted in red is correct than there would no longer be an option to blow through my bank before I retire.
Again though I have a current CBA that to be changed would need to be negotiated and agreed to by the membership.
So let's say the current way remains status quo. Something happens to you where you wind up being out well past your current sick bank and you don't have any insurance. What happens then? You are now getting no paycheck and no income. I know a few people who are currently in that predicament.

If you skip past the nonsense you can still find information that fits the topic.
Let's see if you can possibly understand this? I was told about this issue by the MOD the day "Before" this thread was started. And I posted what he had told me "After" the reactionary thread had already started.La Li Lu Le Lo said:

So which is it before or after?
You know when you tell the truth you have less information to keep track of. Try it sometime.
