Yep I'm on awful terms with Management. Just horrendous.

Here's a reality check for you man. I don't know you and I don't care about you.

Sorry if that bursts your bubble.
And now for the kicker, If I were in MIA, and had to be represented, you are bound too and have a sworn duty to defend me regardless, of your personal feelings, and I would get great satisfaction from that. If you need extra money, that $50 stewy check won't go far, but day-off OT might.

Just saying.

I defend the integrity of my contract, not the individual. Who you are or what you believe in makes no difference to me when I'm in that role.

Outside of that role is another story entirely. And even great lawyers have garbage for clients sometimes.

Oh and it's $250.00 a quarter here actually.

Al I gave you a link to our contract. Again you really should READ it.

But we get a 5.5% match for all hours worked if we contribute that much. Otherwise it's a 3% contribution.
In not saying this to start a debate but if you are in your 20s and 30s and are at the lower end of  the pay scale. You are probably better off in the IAM pension. How many people at the lower end could afford to put anything in the match?

I'm 50 with maybe 12 years left to go and honestly "might" consider it? Depending on what the terms are of course.

And I have done my research and know what the risks are.

At the rate we are getting now I dont know. but before the reduction I would say yes. There are risks in everything

Precicely. But it's smart to have a diversified portfolio since EVERYTHING is a risk.

And before others hit me. I said I would "consider" it if it was offered and "I" saw value in it.

I don't like the cuts and PBGC maximums on it though. Technically it's not really insured. But neither is my 401K.

You've been here longer so I have more confidence in you to find things.

It was actually a compliment more than a lecture.

Nah probably not? I like it here in Florida and I'm buying a condo.

Not interested in ever going back to Dallas and don't know much about DC. Haven't flown in almost 4 years either so commuting might not be my cup of tea?

Right now just running for this little E Board spot is enough for me.

But thanks for the compliment.

And management loves me! Because I get paid to follow the rules, not favors, and I follow them to the letter. And you want to fault me for that.  Better to be on good terms than bad. Weren't you there when they taught that in steward school?
Ya and my American Standard toilet never lets me down at only 1.6 gallons a flush, believe me your management
thinks of you in the same way as I think about it.

In maintenance we don't worry about local e boards we have only one local. Heck we don't even worry about union halls. Hell the international sold them all. Yep we have some pretty impressive representation.we are kinda like transients with a shopping cart.
