Moron Move Alert!

Given that you made a point about being in shape..how is that getting out of the way of a cart is any issue for you?

I've seen countless elderly, or otherwise physically impaired people benefit greatly from the carts over the years. As for age not being any factor...you've some degree of a point. I've recently also seen a very young man, who'd recently lost a leg due to action in the Sandbox benefit from the usage of carts. He was doubtless very much "in shape" not long before. Kindly recall that for physical impairments/age/etc: There but for fortune go you/I. PHL's a terrible airport to make connections in from the international gates....it ain't no short trek.
I agree with you! Case in point. A couple checked in with me this morning for flt 700 to Philadelphia and was connecting to Madrid. I walked over to another agent and repeated what the pax had told me. He had a weak heart and a plate in his knee and wanted to know how far he had to walk from arrival gate to his International departure gate. The agent told me it was quite a hike. I offered to set the pax up with a wheelchair and he became embarrased and declined when his wife quickly said "How about an electric cart, just in case the flight is running late". It wasn't that tight of a connection but I knew what she was doing so I agreed and set it up. A lot and I mean A LOT of people are too embarrassed for a wheelchair but are ok with an electric cart. I think it's a really bad decision to get rid of the carts.

An agent friend of mine said that with fully charged battery a cart can make it all the way to Broad and Tasker.

I hadn't thought of the embarrassment issue...but it's certainly an added reason to help the customers with the carts. Very nice work on your part with setting up that couple with a cart:up:

Everyone,

I called the Airport this afternoon to see if there was any truth to this rumor, and it was news to the 3 people I spoke with. However, the third person went and tried to find some information.

After a few minutes on hold she told me that electric cart service was being REDUCED due to various construction projects on the airside concourses this summer.

Someone must have sent this into Tempe and here is what was in last week's AboutUS:

Nelson Camacho, PHL’s director of passenger services, said, “At this time we are not removing electric cart service from PHL. We are, however, reviewing all options to improve our Americans with Disabilities (ADA) service requirements.â€￾ Nelson explained that he initiated the discussion during a Town Hall meeting to acquire ideas and feedback from the front-line agents.

Nelson concluded, “I will be sure to communicate with all groups whenever I reach a decision on any changes.â€￾

Not True....good try though on there part.

(cause it sounds good and they keep blowing it)

Nelson concluded, “I will be sure to communicate with all groups whenever I reach a decision on any changes.â€￾

Yes,we are not removing service, but we are removing carts.Thats a fact...Jack.The rest is BS,he wont be making the decision in this regards it will be negotiated with the city...not decided by Nelson.

Fact is the old carts are beinng phased out,due to parts availability.(not made anymore) And the city does want to take over but the company is resisting it as they should,USAIRWAYS is not blowing this. The right thing is being done.We are not stopping cart service.

....this should be something US and the city works out because they are not only US pax they are also customers of the city but the city hates US and planned a future without us after the 2nd BK but we just wont die!!!!

All we can hope for is Isdell retires after the new mayor is elected and the new mayor puts someone in charge who doesnt have animosity towards us....

Read this. Your hope may come true very soon:

BTW Nutter is about 100% certain to be elected.

On a side note, this Thread (excluding this source Post) is a perfect example of the misinformation and irrelevant comments in this Forum. It's easy to answer the question as to why the US Airways Forum has so many more posts than any other - 90% of them (US Airways) are not worth reading.

Actually, I'd have to disagree on this. It might have taken a while to get to the answer, and it may have drifted along the way, but it made the USWeekly question list (or someone reading here decided to ask and it was included) so it must have been important enough to someone to get included. I think there are many posts/threads here that are of no interest to me personally, but overall, I think it keeps Tempe on its toes and is a great source of info on things happening systemwide and in the various stations. Without the forum to share info and ask questions there would be a whole lot more misinformation or lack of information available for everyone who reads the boards. If you arent interested in a topic/thread, just skip it. It cuts down on the time required to catch up. B)

....meanwhile have you seen the airport cops Segways? I saw a cop yesterday speeding down between B & C on a Segway doing at least 20 mph. Lots of little kids running around and it's only a matter of time before the retarded PHL airport cops make Segway road pizza out of some US passengers.

Later,
Eye
