Moron Move Alert!

I can see why your airline is in the dumpster with employees like you.

I hope you never have to be older than nineteen. Old age is hell. Now I know why that youth is wasted on the young.

US1YFARE has a wicked sense of humor and isn't an employee. Perhaps you should GET a sense of humor.

Ordinarily I don't waste time replying to these sorts of posts as it only emboldens the baiter. But I make an exception here.

In life, nothing is ever fair. Some folks sponge off of others taking at every opportunity while others are generous and giving to excess. Most of us live in between these extremes.

But with time and age, one slows down, the joints creak and ache and some folks simply can't do the things they previously take for granted. So mixed in with the altruous and the takers are folks who appreciate a break here and there as life slowly wears them down. This is related to wisdom which is lacking in youth but very plentiful with age. Humility is also an attribute that older folks acquire to round out their wisdom as they move forward in life.

Perhaps an electric cart at an aiport is a thing overlooked or a thing regarded dubiously by most of us who don't need it ( and occassionally abused by those who don't need it and should know better). But it remains very useful for those who can't keep up the pace life as they used to. US makes yet another error at PHL.

At least I'll recognize JS not only for his BS, but also for his nimble speed as he skateboards past me at the airport.

'nuff said. :glare:

First of all, age is way down the list of reasons why someone might be slow or fast. My father is 59 years old and he can hike to the top of Pike's Peak. I've seen 20-somethings waddle away from the gate and heave their fat butts on the cart.

Next, I would like to know why it is that because I'm in shape, I should have to yield to a motorized vehicle driving on what would ordinarily be called a "sidewalk" outside of an airport because 90% of the occupants are too darn lazy to walk their butts and their bags of potato chips 1/8th of a mile to their connecting flight.

If I had the opportunity to push a wheelchair for free in the airport during a layover, I would do it! Don't tell me that I don't care for those less physically fortunate than I. What I do care about is having to jump out of the way because some people just don't feel like walking and the driver seems to think that they have the right of way ("beep", "excuse the cart", blah blah blah).

I'll agree to keep the carts if a speed governor is installed that limits its speed to 2 MPH.

Given that you made a point about being in shape..how is that getting out of the way of a cart is any issue for you?

I've seen countless elderly, or otherwise physically impaired people benefit greatly from the carts over the years. As for age not being any factor...you've some degree of a point. I've recently also seen a very young man, who'd recently lost a leg due to action in the Sandbox benefit from the usage of carts. He was doubtless very much "in shape" not long before. Kindly recall that for physical impairments/age/etc: There but for fortune go you/I. PHL's a terrible airport to make connections in from the international gates....it ain't no short trek.

No further debate from me. I can see that you're a caring person who's properly evaluated the needs of the disadvantaged versus your inconvenience at having to sometimes step out of the way of carts...which does involve truly tasking any physical ability on your part.

Did you miss the part where I said that I would be willing to push a wheelchair for free?

Wheelchairs aren't expensive; it's the labor that costs some bucks. I'll do it for free! Talk about inconveniencing myself...

wheelchair
OK, You don't KNOW what its like to take care of a disabled 40 year old lady. I have a family member that was struck by a Drunk Driver, she can walk about 50-100 feet tops with the help of a walker. She can not go to the bathroom without any assistance. She is lucky to be alive. No fault of her own she is this way for the rest of her life. When she travels, we take turns traveling with her. A wheelchair is OK, but the portable medical kit that we must travel with makes a cart handy. And if it My Mother traveling with her, they need a cart. My Mother is 73. She's in good health, but needs alittle help.

You say you are in Good Health. If So, take a few steps aside and let the cart go thru, who is the lazy one Now? She was in good health till somebody took that away, just be glad that you are capable of moving out of the way, maybe tomorrow you won't be able.

.......just be glad that you are capable of moving out of the way, maybe tomorrow you won't be able.

Amen BuffaloJoe.

I wish all your family the very best through her trials sir. God's business...and never ours to understand.

Is it Isdell in PHL that also makes the carts use a manual bell instead of the horn?

All the horns are broken, the auto shop installed the bells to save money on fixing the horns. I used to use the electric carts on midnight shift to get around the airport. Most of them will spin wheels and rip the wax off the floor if its just the driver on it!

From my understanding, it was the decision of the director of customer service who is original HP with 6 years of seniority.
Or marketing. I know it doesn't make sense, but they seem to be responsible for most of the idiotic customer service decisions here....as if!

I say good riddance! I hate those things! The drivers are rude and 90% of the people who use them are just lazy.

Use a wheelchair if you need one.
They're probably going to farm out wheelchairs to a company but if it's anything like the one in Phx you'll find lots of people really upset. I needed one one time and the guy never showed up at the gate and I missed my connection. Now you have another person to complain to the head of wheelchairs--anyway are there enough wheelchairs in Phl to handle it??

Just another example of the gradual decline of service.

IMO they will try to outsource the Wheelchair work and run square into a lawsuit.
Maybe Tempe was watching the movie "Philadelphia" and thought that they met Denzel Washington at the Costume Party! He Dressed up as a Law Suit!

What official memo has been delivered to employees about the cart removal? Have people been laid off who drive the carts? Is there a new procedure employees have been trained on for moving passengers around?
