Welcome to the twu, where the word union rep is used very loosely. In other words, the self appointed stooges are nothing more than an extension of management for the compAAny. And for the record, yes the "union reps" have assisted their pAArtner in seeing certain people being walked off the property.

Oh, come on now. You are tarring them all with the same brush. There are a lot of really good men in TWU positions doing a very good job. You are not being fair to them. They do a thankless and never-ending job to protect members from company injustices as well as mitigating the consequences of the members own mistakes. They are always doing battle to help the troops or save a guy's job.

They need our support, not blanket condemnation.

The TWU might be a lousy organization, but they are all we have at the moment, and the good guys in the organization need our support and appreciation.

So, please, at least recognize that there are some good union reps out there and they are not "self appointed stooges are nothing more than an extension of management for the compAAny." If nothing else, these good guys are going to be the nucleus of the next union that is voted in. Don't burn them out with anti-TWU stuff. Cultivate them. Nurture them. Encourage them. Thank them. Support them.

When they get discouraged, encourage them to keep up the good work. We really need them.

I am referring to "appointed" stooges, both Intl and just about any appointed person I have dealt with locally. Where there is no election, including, appointed shop stewards at some locals, I have found them to be mostly an extension of the company. There are a few good ones, but they are few and far between and certainly not in the Intl.

Sorry, I must have been mistaken. I guess in the view of a traitor I must not qualify. Thanks for adding some truth to the statement of Mr. Wrench. ;)

"Sarcasm", I really must have missed the point! Why the interest in what capacity I serve at AA? Do you know what HSS is? It is a tool steel that has been used for years to manufacture many items including the skin on the outside of an aircraft, to the wrench the mechanic holds in their hand.

No, I was not being sarcastic. I meant every word. Many of us do really appreciate the work of a number of really good men doing the day to day hard work for the benefit of their co workers.

What aircraft used HSS as its skin?

You missed the point a long time ago.

It is one thing to save jobs, but another to give concessions at every contract to buy those jobs.

HSS, you may not support his "AMFA efforts", yet you accept his union support. I accept and recognize his AMFA efforts, though I do not support the same efforts. We were not born to all follow the same drummer, so to speak. The TWU is ready to label AMFA supporters as renegades, instead of members, disgruntled in the day to day ops of their union. HSS, I suggest you have 9,000 members currently that need your support, regardless of their venture. First step to leading, I would think, would be to listen, then recognize and absorb.

You are going to have another "battle" on your hands shortly with their AMFA drive. Best not wait until the final stretch to act!

American does outsource maintenance. They send A LOT of it to South America.
