More Crew Cancellations This Weekend

Sorry to hear about whats going on in PHX but at least the WEST gets the volunteer flight pay. I am OFF today and would love to make extra money (125%) but the EAST contract doesnt have anything like that. I would make NOTHING extra for volunteering on my OFF day because I never break guarantee thanks to the LTO scheduling system that was forced on us.

And EAST people dont start crying about the recent failed side letter for of "pay no-credit on an off day".......I want a livable contract! No side letters when its convenient for the company.....I want a livable contract day-in and day-out.

Maybe all this mess will light a fire under some of the morons in Tempe to be serious about contract talks....wishful thinking on my part since they are all home comfy and warm with their families counting all the money they are making at the expense of the poor employees who just want to be able to pay bills and the poor pax who just want to go somewhere. How does management live with themselves? They dont care one iota about employees or passengers; just about their personal bank accounts. I cant wait for the press releases, memos etc blaming the employees AGAIN; that is once they return from their happy holiday and find out what happened!

In the meantime, my services are simply unavailable to help out in ANY way.
 
The open time in PHL for tomorrow is out of control. I'm going on a 3 day tomorrow with no pilots yet. That's one of who-knows-how-many that lack front end crews.

It just keeps getting better. Got a call that the 520pm to PHL tonight had a crew issue (thats the one we just put all the 310pm intl conx on). PHL would not hold so we have between 50 and 60 LHR and MAN customers staying until Mo/Tu now! :up:

And now the West is getting involved with the crew issues and they have just canx the 715am flight to PHX.
That makes the 520am, 700am and 715am flight all canx in the morning. Better get there early if you're flying out cause the line will be out the door!


And still no word out of Tempe!!! 🙄 :angry:

More blatant disregrad for Customers and Employee alike. There is so little left to say. When Tempe's words and actions speak for themselves why interupt?
 
This situation will change NOTHING in Tempe's eyes. They have NEVER, EVER, EVER admitted to a mistake or blunder. No way baby. This will pass after it practically kills the employees working. I'm off and wouldn't come into work if it were to shut down if I didn't. We are run by THE most inept, unprofessional and amateur management team in the biz. Well besides Hector and a few nameless others. But the biggies gotta go. I feel for our passengers but I hope US management makes the news and is called out on their mess. THEY DID IT.... NOT the employees. I hope everyone is having a Happy New Year! ! !

Because the "powers that be" changed how vacation bids are processed most of the reserves were assigned vacation in the months of ....yes you guessed it...Jan., Feb., and Mar.

Buckle up. It's going to be a rough ride.
 
Well is anyone going to say the obvious? Why the h*** is Hector letting Paul K still screw up everything for the 10000th time? He has brown nosed his way to the top for too long and snow blowed anyone that would listen. Your flight has no LOD/O? Ah- well because Paul's Excel model doesn't take into account vacation or sick calls! It's absurd!
Look no farther than PAUL KINSEY for the inflight staffing debacle!

I heard Mike sent out an email saying he would be unavailable this weekend for contact. If this is true, what a crock-o-crapola.

I'm off to my disgusting hotel room now. One can only hope it's away from the ice machine, elevator, and doesn't have bedbugs. If I hear one more story about that short PVD I'm gonna scream.

Hey...I think the bedbug problem has been remedied. I was there last week and no one in our crew was infected. And, believe me, we checked!!!
 
They are junior assigning FA's in PHX now. Something like 20 cancelled flights due to "no available FA's". Lines at the passenger assist counters are out of control. Over 100 sick calls today.

Crappy pairings+horrible bids+low morale+some people who really are sick = flight cancellations. Saw this coming a mile away. Surprised it didn't happen sooner.

They are offering volunteer fly pay (125%) for tomorrow and the next day as well. This is going to be a loooong weekend for some folks and I feel bad for the passengers. Not the best way to start the new year. 🙁




Ok now did I just understand that the West coast F/A's are being offered VOLUNTEER FLY PAY!!!!??????? They get volunteer fly pay!!!!!!??????? Could you plz explain this more.

AMEN to that!!! If the company wants the reserves to give up the off days then how about giving them REAL incentive such as a REAL volunteer pay!!!!! If the company wants East Coast F/A to fly when they are not scheduled too then give VOLUNTEER PAY like time and a half or double time.

West has a contractual provision in their contract where, based on company needs, they can offer Volunteer Fly which enables FA's on days they are not scheduled to fly the opportunity to fly for 125% of their normal pay. If memory serves me correctly the contract compels the company to offer VF prior to junior assigning FA's.

Sounds like a much better incentive than what east coast rsvs were just offered.
