Mgt Demands Retroactive Paycut For Pilots

Time for another false fact filled Charlotte Observer OP-ED piece?

The AFA E-line is 9 days old, which is a long time ago with the current state of negotiations.

There is reason to believe ALPA, AFA, and the CWA will have new agreements before bankruptcy. The only labor groups that will not are those represented by the TWU and IAM, who according to ALPA's advisor's are going to get "hammered" in court, which is the union's choice.

The union's Counsel will have to argue why the union employees deserve higher pay and benefits for a failed company than LCC employees whose company is profitable.

Respectfully,

USA320Pilot

Same advisors who said your pension is safe.

You sound like a broken record, no one believes you anymore.

And according to a close friend who is a AFA MEC member they are no where near a T/A.

Keep trying, glad to see you are batting 000000, like usual.

Lets compare WN's wages and benefits, funny how you forget how they company kept comparing its employees to WN until they realized WN is the highest paid and funny they have the highest % of unionized employees.

Keep trying!

Without new agreements, it's likely that next week the company moves to eliminate IAM and AFA pensions. However, I believe the AFA will reach an agreement to obtain a new retirement plan. In regard to the IAM, they're about to lose all of their pension, which again is their choice.

Respectfully,

USA320Pilot

Yep what the IAM is doing is its members choice, why are you obsessed with it?

Are you scared because the IAM has a backbone and is standing up to the company and that terrifies you because you might lose your $200,000 a year job?

MEC CODE-A-PHONE UPDATE

July 26, 2002

This is Roy Freundlich with US Airways an MEC update for Friday, July 26, with two new items:
Item 1. Today the Charlotte Observer published an anti-union editorial from one of our pilots, titled "Unions can Sink US Airways," that aggressively promotes management’s objectives on achieving concessions from other labor groups. The editorial goes so far as to suggest that the CWA union leadership, who represent customer service employees, is misleading their members on their negotiating activity, and implies that management’s side of a dispute is more accurate.

This editorial does not in any way represent ALPA’s position, understanding, or sentiment, on other unions and their sincere efforts to represent their members. ALPA has received no reports, nor would it assign any value to reports, that suggest that any union is misleading their membership. The pilot author of the editorial holds no union position in ALPA. The anti-union public statements from one of our pilot-ALPA members is regrettable.

We urge all pilots to contact their reps or the Comm Center for accurate updates on restructuring negotiations and the activity of other unions. We also request that all pilots refrain from promoting any management anti-union propaganda or chastise other employees in the media. There is little to be gained from such activity other than embarrassment for yourself, your fellow pilots, US Airways, and ALPA.

Next week at this time the IAM/TWU and its members could be asking them self "what went so wrong?"

Then their bankruptcy counsel will be defending against a S.1113e and S.1114 motions while ALPA and probably the AFA/CWA will be watching on the sidelines.

Regardless, this thread has been hijacked again by the "just say no crowd", who is about to become "toast". Could we return it to the pilot retroactive paycut topic, which is false?

Thanks.

Respectfully,

USA320Pilot

Regardless, this thread has been hijacked again by the posting of "misinformation, threats, intimidation" by a certain poster , who is about to become a F/O or a MDA E170 Pilot.

When misinformation is posted, I will always provide the facts.

Very similar to a Charlotte Observer OP-ED piece written by a certain pilot.

MEC CODE-A-PHONE UPDATE - September 5, 2004 #2

This is Jack Stephan with a second US Airways MEC update for Sunday, September 5th (at 8:30 p.m.).

The MEC remains in recess to the call of the MEC Chairman. Our Negotiating Committee met internally today and into the evening. They provided the Company tonight with economic data that should help them move forward with various costing scenarios, and hopefully, bring a closure to this process. It is expected that both committees will be meeting on Monday.

Please continue to monitor the code a phone and pilots only web site for any late breaking events, proposals or changes to the MEC meeting schedule.

USA320Pilot comments: The US Airways MEC has remained in session for the 13th day at a cost of about $15,000 per day. That 's about $195,000 for a union that is broke that has received a special grant from the International office to fund operations because of the seriousness of the issues. ALPA fully understands the stakes at hand, as does the AFA and CWA, who are negotiating with the company too.

ALPA's advisors have told the MEC in "open session" at a recent meeting I attended that any union without a new labor accord before a bankruptcy filing will be "wiped out".

Respectfully,

USA320Pilot

Wiped out? How funny, from a broke and dysfunctional union who can't even take care of itself.

From the same MEC Chairman who told you vote for concessions to save your pension. Why don't you tell us about what happend to your DB plan?

This gets funnier with each post.

Regarding Cathay. They will not talk to anyone over the age of 46, which elimates 80% of US Airways' active pilots. Another downer is their mandatory retirement age of 55. I know for a fact that this company has recently interviewed 32 of our current and furloughed pilots; only two have been hired. I am not sure about previous numbers. The two that were hired recently spent a few thousand dollars to get a 747 type rating. Go figure. But the interview is a grilling of 747 procedures, so it's money well spent. Also, the physical is a killer. All candidates must have a BMI (Body Mass Index) of 23 or less; meaning fit and slim -- this elimates 90% of the pilot group. Sorry, but it's true. Otherwise, it's a good gig, but you can be based in the following: Hong Kong, Frankfurt, Manchester, England, Paris, Vancouver, Anchorage, Los Angeles, Chicago, New York. Another carrier worth considering is Emirates. But you have to move to Dubai, United Arab Emirates. About 35 US Airways guys are over there now, seem to like it.

Sorry, this expense would have been avoided had the MEC noted the NC recommendations. But NOOOOOOOOOO, they have to blow $15,000 a day "talking and debating" a bullcrap agreement. Right now, ALPA's NC is chasing beer farts in a whirlwind. The whole thing just stinks!!

Hey USA320pilot..

you need to check your sources and or question them cause the company and CWA are not even scheduled to meet again until the 9 of Sept, let alone come to a TA.... and from my informed sources it not even close to comming to a TA.... so I guess the IAM and TWU and CWA will all be sitting on the sidelines...
