Mgt Demands Retroactive Paycut For Pilots

This just seems to be a case of corporate GREED, not negotiations in good faith. Something like this proposal from the company is disguesting. Makes me think even less of what little respect I continued to hold for this company leadership. One word...DISGUESTING.

That rings soooo true in ever aspect of society and what I was trying to say in other post of how the people on the outside see the U employees plight. Many are simply saying to themselves, come join the crowd...sad but true.

I understand the ALPA Negotiating Committee (NC) woke up this morning concerned that they may be running out of time and that they may have missed the window of opportunity (which actually was a month and a half earlier). MEC reports indicate the NC seems to be working hard today to get a deal that might be acceptable to the company. Furthermore, most of the MEC believes the company wants a deal to have a story for the ATSB.

I am worried about what they are coming up with - but a deal is better than no deal at all going into a potential S.1113e filing. It now appears the NC believes ALPA would have been a lot better off taking the company's first proposal than what the pilots will likely end up having, whether it's agreed upon or imposed.

What's interesting is that is exactly what the advisors told the RC4, who were ignored by the union "hardliners".

Separately, I understand the CWA has made a lot of progress and the AFA is making progress too, but there has been not much movement with and of the TWU or IAM units. Furthermore, it is anticipated that the company will file S.1113e and S.1114 motions against these units immediately following the September 12 bankruptcy filing, unless something changes.

Respectfully,

Thats strange. I read on here the other day CWA was not having any talks with the company. Which is it? Savy

Do you have any facts to support a BK filing on Sept. 12?

If you DO NOT please don't mislead anyone.

Facts only please! If that is your opinon please state so.

Thank You JustAir

Having not seen the proposal (not a U employee) I may be way off base, but just because the pay rate is tied to May 2004 doesn't necessarily mean that the effective date of the TA will be May 2004. The rates could be tied to a 5/04 date with implementation beginning 9/04, thus noone would have to pay back anything. Also, ALPA contracts usually have a paragraph detailing how overages or underages are made up with payroll with a certain defined window. Their failure to address this through the current contract in a timely manner could torpedo any chance they would have to win a greivance.

av8torwife, it's the same people that keep getting screwed over. If you were hired in 1986 and beyond, you might as well blow this clambake. Its dying get out now before its too late.

320pilot, I don't care what you think it's not going to pass and it certainly isn't going to stop the company from filing Chapter 11 by this time next week. It's done; it's over; it's time face the fact that some guy or gal in a black robe will decide your fate and pay. To be honest, I think the judge wouldn't be so harsh as what's going on right now. I could be wrong but at this point seeing the doo doo that's coming from the NC; I say WTF, see you in court. Full pay to the last day.

MGT does not want retro pay, read page 5 the rates are frozen as of 5/1/04.

how do you know that the cwa and the afa are making progress when i just saw the other day on justplanenews.com that the cwa isnt even talking as mgmt "claims" it needs quickly? and furthermore, how do you know that the company is going to file against twu and iam? what if the judge sided with these two unions and not the company? what will the response be then???

It is retroactive. Just like the last pay cuts were. The only difference in this one is that the pilots may actually get to vote on this retroactive pay cut because the power of the MEC shifted after the last MEC refused to let the pilots vote about the termination of the pension. (ie. several MEC members were voted out and now the controlling MEC members have some human decency.)

(NOTE: I have never posted missleading info on this board. I have never posted messages with an agenda to save my job. Neither have I claimed to have some special status or inside informaiton, nor have I cut and paste messages from the YAHOO message board with the assertion that it was "priveleged info".)

What are you doing on the 'Pilots Only' website? It is for pilots only...not wives. Not real smart of you to come over here and discuss your surfing there.

I am not sure if there is any truth to this new rumor that the pilots have to give back salary to May 1. I would rather quit than give back monies already earned.

I did check out the company's latest offer on the Pilot's only section and I could find nothing that shows a retro effective date. I only "scanned" it over but it did not appear to state any such thing.

P.S. I am sorry about the spelling...

If the Pilots accept the most recent offer, they will have to pay back the "over pay" that they have received since May 1, 2004. (in other words, if they accept the 30% pay cut, they will have been "over paid" by 30 % since May 1 and will have to pay it back.)

If they accept the retroactive paycut, it would be the second time, except the first time was decided by the MEC and was not voted on by the pilots. It still remains to be seen if the pilots will get to vote on this.

Management is insane if they think they will receive retroactive pay cuts from the pilots OR ANY OTHER GROUP.

They can all go where the sun never shines, as they say in Greek.... να πας στο διαολο για παντα.
