Management at US and UA--The Good the Bad and the Ugly

WN is not global. You still don't get it. You will never be able to convince any of us to your way of thinking. We are a pretty sharp group of experienced and savvy airline employees/passengers you are dealing with. Once this merger goes through, however, you won't be here anymore anyway. Our years of MEGA seniority will boot your a$$ right out the door. Oh, and it is the USAir part of this company that is carrying the HP part of this company. Your world is not making a penny towards this airline right now.

Yes, Prop--we have been through many potholes while employed with US. We are pros now. If chapter 11 is in our future I recommend all big cities to stand on line and apply for FMLA. No way I am going through this again without it!!!!!

No US F seats are not the same as CO Coach, but on many flights CO service in coach is better than US in F. Except that in the exit rows, CO has MORE legroom in coach than US in F.

And Freedom, I have no doubt that F seats are going out filled, just no one is PAYING F fares (or at least no one who has flown F on another carrier).

And once and for all, STOP comparing to Southwest. They are comparing apples to oranges. They are NOT international. They have one type, and fly point to point.

Oh--and they have HAPPY employees, and HAPPY customers....therefore the shareholders are HAPPY.....because they do things Kellehers way.....

So your own argument works against you.

I am going to stop arguing with you, but maybe you better rethink your negotiating or arguing skills...they will not serve you well lin the real world.
 
When I bring up south west I’m brining up INNOVATION … not their direct bussiness model , my POINT is to show that we need people who are FLEXIABLE and who can INNOVATE leading our company going forward …

Right now we have how many major airlines that are for the most part the SAME? Guess what , it’s hunting season on airlines , we can either stick with the heard and hope we don’t get shot or we can distance ourselves from the heard in hopes of NOT getting shot ..


I don’t think the status quo is going to save either US airways or UNITED , that can lead to only one logical conclusion , we need doug parker , a man who thinks outside of the box .
 
I believe that many east employees as well as FF's would welcome a merger with UAL , if only to purge the airline of all things west , like shares, poor service ,etc. The sooner a merger happens the better for all of us , and maybe we will be run like a real company rather than the small minded regional airline the Sandcastle still thinks we are. We are global and no the world does not orbit around PHX and LAS. The money is in the east and always will be. If we ejected the west , the east would survive ,it's doubtful the west would.

We are in need of a facelift and a new name. I have worked next to United for years and they were very professional and very good agents both inside and out, very similar to the old US even while in BK. The employees make the airline. We will not leave, we will always be there. Do you realize how hard it is for our front line employees until this militant dictatorship LCC? We are unable to even smile let alone service because we are too busy trying to push the heard (HERD) on board aircraft in nearly impossible time restraints put upon us and the lack of tools to do it with. I agree with Crusher, we welcome this UAL merger if it comes to terms and regardless of the transitions we will go through to become one.

I know we can achieve this and all it takes is TLC. We achieved this all by ourselves without the assistance of management in the last 2 BK's and we can do it again.
 
You are exactly correct. United and USAir have like minded phylosophies. They are legacy carriers. Our years and years of training and our longevity with experienced employees would be a very welcome change. We need to get back to the basics. Airline 101 which obviousley Doug and his chimps missed due to hangovers. Had to say it, sorry!
 
The west mentality is that of a Mesa , small regional airline and even though they have doubled in size with the merger of east , they still think like a regional rather than a large international carrier. We used to have the finest Trans Atlantic service, look at us now thanks to the genious's of Tempe. Rather than world class service we have less than Southwest service. Their idea of Envoy is less than good domestic FC on AA or CO. And for this they expect people to pay thousands? What incentive is there for anyone to fly us? If all things were equal among all airlines , what does US offer that the others don't offer at a better price and with better service with greater dependability and reliability?
 
In the end you can go off about DP and crew and the mistakes that have been made in this operation , but at the end of the day , it’s Doug parkers financial plan that will TRIUMPH all of the petty issues …


The passengers care about the cost of their ticket , it’s just THAT simple … on average THAT is the most important issue , not service , not happy workers , not even the bags of pretzels that are no longer going to be given away ..

I think the productivity of our workforce is increasing by the DAY … a lot of times people will come on here and complain that they “don’t give us the tools we need to do our job “ well that’s no longer the case , heck I can’t believe how many tools we now have …

Face it we’re a WINNING airline , if this oil crisis had never come about , we’d be rolling in dough and glory , we might have even been in a position to eventually take on southwest airlines , but what with their fuel hedge and all , I doubt will be able to get our CASM down to their level.
 
There is no comparison to WN in my opinion. SWA is a point to point carrier with just 737s. US is a mix of Airbus and Boeing and flies the USA, Canada, the Caribbean, Mexico, and Europe as well as Latin America. SWA has HAPPPY PEOPLE because they TAKE CARE OF THEIR OWN EMPLOYEES AND THE EMPLOYEES TAKE CARE OF THE COMPANY AND SWA! US mgmt is so far out that there is no returning unless a whole new mgmt team is brought in. Bring on Bethune He did wonders at CO There is a reason why the FF are leaving-- mgmt dont care about anything or anyone except COST COST COST and that so far has been horrible with US
