Scope is nice but it is not forever.. Take my word for it.. The scope language used to say Pushbacks to. Its paper and can be changed..
Right now the IBT is negotiating with AWA on their scope. They have a LOA to bring in the C check. So there is your balence right there.. Give us the S and Q and we will let you do the light C checks.. Simple as that..
They can then close down PIT and use CLT and PHX for light C checks on the Airbus fleet.
Its all in the wording.. And the IAM contract as written right now will not be the final agreement.. Dougie has been very clear on that.
The AWA people make more money than the US people.. There is another chip.. We will up everyone's pay but you have to give us the S and Q checks.. Or everyone can accept the lower pay and we will still
farm out the work.
Its all negotiations and the IAM is not the sure winner.. Not yet.. So don't think that you can spout off about the IAM contract being "the way it is".. You would be sadly mistaken. Negotiations, Negotiations..
If Dougie was smart, he would find an empty hangar in the middle of Nevada and say "There is where the S check is going to go". And when no one bid it he could farm it out. Pretty simple. All they need is a building. Does not have to be in PIT, CLT, PHX or any other place on the route system. You said so yourself.. Keep it in perspective.

Wow I would have hoped the IBT would have trained you better and educated you.
See the scope language you talk about has been tested in court and won by the IAM until an Appeals Court threw it back to arbitration, and guess what? The IAM won in arbitration also, and since the IBT has failed to educate you let me. See when scope language is tested in arbitration and won by the IAM it is precedent setting and if the company tries to violate an arbitrator's decision and order the IAM would go back to court and get an injuction against the company as this language has been tested all ready and the arbitor's decision is final.
Heaven help your HP mechanics if you don't even know about the grievance procedure and arbitration under the Railway Labor Act.
