I heard today from union officials that the IAM is in the process of organizing a card drive at all AA maintenance stations in the next few weeks. What will it take for the AA guys to sign an IAM card?

Considering you guys have been in negotiations since 2008?
Nothing to show for it yet. USAir has no intentions on settling with the M&R until this merger is complete. That will not sell anyone at AA to sign a IAM card. I am sure USAir would love to implement our contract at AA to you guys and call it a day until 2017.
AMFA filing is about two months away. Teamsters do not have enough cards and now the TWU is accusing the Teamsters of forging signature cards. Card drives this size always take several months to mature to a level of getting close enough to file. AMFA is already in its ninth month. The Teamsters started about seven months ago. Teamsters are unorganized and have no real database to go on. They are still knocking on doors and sending out mail outs. Teamsters announced that they were going to file at least on two occasions.
The IAM will be wasting their time and will accomplish nothing. The IAM should focus on getting a contract for you guys before the SCS is announced. The IAM will be spending your dues money on a worthless campaign. It should be spent on negotiations.
From all the posts and news letters AMFA has been putting out they will be filing end of MAY. Exact date will be determined by the organizing committee. This is where we should be focusing our efforts on. A real true craft union like the pilots and flight attendants have. Enough of the catch all, industrial, dues sucking unions.

Parker has drool on his face in anticipation of unlimited foreign outsourcing.

Parker and the boys have this under control we walk and they replace us with AA. My thought is the IAM should not have did a 3 year TA for chump change. (THAT WE DID’T GET TO VOTE ON) and what i think was a pay back for inside info on the last merger to keep the IBT out.
And now we see the TWU with unlimited foreign outsourcing why would Parker want a new contract with the IAM.
Its time to boot the IAM and TWU to the curb.

They cant replace the IAM mechanics with AA's mechanics, the companies arent even merged,

The ibt couldnt get enough cards, there was no back door deal between US and the IAM.

Are you living in a fantasy world?

There isnt unlimited foreign outsourcing at AA, they have a 35% maintenance cap spend limit on outsourcing, so please explain how it is unlimited.

You really should educate yourself before you post.

[background=rgb(252, 252, 252)]TWU agreed to no defined limit on heavy maint outsourcing, the only lititation would be that no more than 35%, subject to exclusions, of the total maintenence spend on work covereed under the agreemnt can be outsourced. If RR backs out of TAESL they can increase that percentage "accordingly".Likely to around 50% of "work covered under this agreement". That means work on MD-80s(being retired), 757s(being retired), 767s, 777s(already outsourced) and 737s(already partially outsourced). Airbus is work we never did so its not covered under the agreement, the company did agree that AA mechanics would work all aircraft that AA flies but did not say that all work on all aircraft AA flies is covered under the agreement, so if we do line maint but outsource the Heavies they will take the position they have complied with the agreement. We used to have language that said that if we bring work not covered under the agreement in house for a period of time it becomes part of the agreement but we eliminated that language. So they could bring Airbus work in, then outsource it and it would not fall under the 35%. As new aircraft come on line the total spend (on work covered under the agreement) will shift towards Line Maintenance, meaning eventually all of the remaining Heavy Maintenance can be outsourced while still staying under the 35% cap.[/background]

If you are going to take Bob Owens' posts at least give him credit.

US tried the same crap with the airbus at US saying it wasnt in the contract, they lost that arbitration.

If you look at any airline and their maintenance CBA fleet types arent listed, the scope language is listed.

Show me where in the US CBA where it says which fleet types are done in-house and what is outsourced, show the board the same in the TWU M&R CBA.

From the IAM/US CBA:

The Company agrees that the following described work, wherever
14 performed, is recognized as coming within the jurisdiction of the
15 International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers, and is
16 covered by this Agreement: the making, assembling, erecting, dismantling,
17 and repairing of all machinery, mechanical equipment, engines and motors
18 of all description, including all work involved in dismantling, overhauling,
19 repairing, fabricating, assembling, welding, and erecting all parts of
20 airplanes, airplane engines, avionics equipment, electrical system, heating
21 system, hydraulic system, and machine tool work in connection therewith,
22 including all maintenance, construction and inspection work in and around
23 all shops, hangars, buildings, and including the servicing, cleaning and
24 polishing of airplanes and parts thereof, and the servicing and handling of
25 all ground equipment performed in and about Company shops, Maintenance
26 bases, Aircraft Base Maintenance bases, and Line service stations.

as i said: (Got this from the AA post. If you want the money it will not be with the IAM or TWU.)
700 we are not going to worry about the IAM CBA. YOUR IAM will be gone.

Well if you cant defend or answer your position you shouldnt post.

Are you going to answer what was poised to you?

IF YOU ARE GOING TO BUTT IN ON A POST WE WERE TALKING ABOUT THE TWU CBA.
WHY ARE YOU ARE POSTING THAT POS IAM CBA, IS IT TO SHOW THAT IT IS JUST A LITTLE BIT BETTER THAN THE TWU POS CBA. I told you years ago Parker was going to play you IAM boys like a harp. And now look what they are doing. They want that TWU contract till what is it 2016 or 2017 add a 3 year TA and we are still on the bottom of the wage scale.

Sent my card in IBT.
