Ok, so go hop in a lavatory truck and dump some planes.

Go wash and polish some planes, yep you certainly need an A&P for that, now dont you?

Wait there is some barf on a seatback, go clean that up too.
My point exactly. lav truck drivers / aircraft washers / polishers and cleaners are not AMT's. If the lav will not dump he calls mx (AMT ) if his truck stops running he calls a auto mech ( ASE ) same for the washer and polisher and if the cleaner finds a broken seat he calls a AMT to fix it. Point being they can service a aircraft but not REPAIR IT.

Its not a brand new building, it has been opened for about 20 years.

Duh, the building was completed in 1992 the link in my post above indicated that. But still the IAM didn't need to build such an extravagant facility much like the international doesn't need a Lear. It's all coming off the backs of the workers IAM representation is imposed on and they keep strapped to long concessionary agreements.

There are plenty of OSMs at AA who do have their a+p. they were laid off as amts and bumped down to osm, so your argument is moot. And yes, all mechanics should be paid the same base rate, whether on the line or in overhaul. I think there should also be a line premium, maybe that's something your nc is working on...

line premium that would work for me get something for those cold nights on the line changing a IDG while the hanger boys are warm . our nc does not tell us what they are offering just that they fell far short of the offer.

Once again, Utility cant fix a plane, like I told you, we all know who does, you act like your are the savior of the airline.

Not only the cold nights, but also the added pressure of working live flights. Hell, I think there should be run up/taxi premiums too, as well as a higher premium for our licenses. $4 or $5 per license would be good, not because I'm better than gse, but because I have to sign airworthiness and have to accept more responsibility.

DITTO... Sometimes the pressure of getting a flight out is worth more than that.

Interesting Article on Seniority !!!
http://www.mondaq.com/unitedstates/x/164186/Aviation/Seniority+Integration+And+The+MccaskillBond+Statute
Read this !! If the IBT were to get a vote before Merger Approval at Both Airlines the IBT Internal Seniority Policies would supercede if successful. They have yet to decide at UAL/CTL !!

It doesnt matter if it was done before, they (IAM) failed to bring it back inhouse. Your on words. also you said:(Improvements in pay, vacation, sick time, raises, holidays and a defined benefit)
AWA (IBT) pre-merger with USAir: We made more per hour than USAir did pre-merger /Vacation did not change / we had unlimited sick time at full Pay perday not half pay as we do today/we lost 2 holidays at the merger/ we had a 401k plan and were in Negotiations at the time of the merger. have a nice day 700.
No Offense but times have changed with $3-$4 Jet Fuel. What you had then does not compute to Today's reality of the post 9/11 World.
AWA was in just as bad of shape as US prior to merger. With rightsizing of Airline fleets and cost controls the merged Airline is starting to make money once again. In fact you can thank US for your profit sharing of years past. The Profits were being made at the East side of the operations. As far as Unions go I hear the IAM and the TWU need only 35%, were as the raid Union of the AMFA and IBT both would need 50+1%. The IBT is trying to get the 50+1% prior to merger at both Airlines and if successful their seniority internal policies would supercede. Read this article;

They have yet to come up with a seniority list at UAL/CTL !! Their Pension Plans are nearly default and there are always stories of corruption in the news !! The IBT is NOT the answer !! I would rather see the TWU and IAM come to a transition agreement and seniority list than let some NEW Union Representation come in here and foul things up. But that's just me.

IMO I don't work for UAL/CTL but I will bet the Grievance committee have a lot of grievances over seniority and are hard at work trying to put people in slot by DOH and be sure that if its like any grievance procedure it takes time. This may have something to do with the funding of the pension from the new company due to not having all the paper work in for the group merger( IMO ) but i may be wrong.

you said:( AWA was in just as bad of shape as US prior to merger.) You need to go and look at the AWA pre-merger Quarterly reports Profits and loss and we did show profits and some losses compared to US who was loosing money hand over fist for years and did not show a profit until AWA acquired US in bankrupt ( a reverse takeover ) (US Airways was acquired by America West Airlines, with the goal of removing the former from Chapter 11 bankruptcy.) http://en.wikipedia....everse_takeover

you said:(profit sharing of years past.) LOL The IAM Union got rid of it.

I will tell you what we need to do is vote in the IBT and get the wages up like SWA did, Then vote in the AMFA to run things so we have lower dues. PS I am Joking. But tired of getting CHUMP wages for the job we do and what ever union we end up with need to working for us not the dues.

If you want a union to work for you and not dues, then the teamsters is not the union you want. How well were they working for you pre-merger? Low wages, crap work rules, and stalled negotiations.

And the IAM is doing so much better for the members.......??? Just finished reading the update on another thread!!
