Filling Vacancies in National Offices
Section 1 — Appointment
The National Director, with approval of the National
Executive Council, shall fill by appointment any vacancy
of a National office within thirty days of said vacancy.
Such appointment shall be valid until the next convention
or until a special election is completed. A special
election will be called if more than eighteen months
remain in the term. The appointee must be eligible to
hold office as required in this Constitution.

The Amfa constitution is not unlike others, The National Executive Council has the power to fill vacancies, appoint committees and the power to dissolve locals just like the other Unions/Associations.

As stated above, the National Director must have "approval" of the NEC. It is not one man appointing someone as with the teamsters, TWU or the IAM. This avoids the "buddy-buddy" system that all the industrial unions use to this day. And if you were to post the "rest of the story" you would easily see that in the case you post, it is only temporary, until a membership vote can be held. If a National officer was to quit, die, or get injured where he can no longer hold the position and perform his job, then yes, as a temp fix, the ND can in fact ask for the NEC's approval to appoint someone until such a vote can be prepared and carried out. You only posted a part of the entire info.
CIO, keep researching and posting, at least by doing so, by the time you think you found another flaw within the AMFA's constitution, you will be well informed and educated about the entire inner workings of AMFA. By then, you will be completely convinced yourself to vote for AMFA. If not that you are merely here to try and drive AMFA away, good luck, your going to need it... Carry on sir, Carry on.

The negociating committee is made up from the M&R members. 700UW was part of the committee. You should show him some respect. Prior to our second BK we had the best contract in the industry bar none. Now we are the ONLY Airline that has a scope clause covering our heavy Maintenance
Respect is earned and he lies. And yes you did have a industry leading contract 10 years ago. And 700 i know the contract was abrogated by the judge but why did the IAM do a 3 year TA and get chump pay, Was this the back door deal the IAM had with Parker and the boys like the TWU and their closed door deals and what happened to that snap back BS you were boasting at the AWA / US merger more lies. WELL HERE ARE THE HARD FACTS. http://www.teamster....ison-Sept28.pdf

The Western Conference of Teamsters Pension Plan's info with 401k. http://www.teamster....ent/our-pension

Defined Contribution
One example of a Teamsters defined contribution plan is the one that the Teamsters have negotiated with UPS on behalf of the UPS AMTs. Under this plan, the Company puts 13% of employees' gross weekly income up to 45 hours per week into individual accounts run by Fidelity Investment. Additionally, UPS pays employees a 100% match to their 401K accounts on the first three percent of pretax money saved by the employee.

IBT Backs Plan to Allow Some Pension Cuts

February 26, 2013: The Hoffa administration has signed on to a joint employer-union proposal to allow "deeply troubled" pension funds to slash accrued benefits, even for Teamsters who have already retired.

This proposal, which could be aimed squarely at the Teamster Central States Fund, comes from the National Coordinating Committee for Multiemployer Plans, a committee of employers, unions and pension plans.

UPS is a prominent member of the group, which also includes several pension funds, employer groups, and some unions.

Hey 700, didn't the IAM put up an unsuccessful fight at both Caterpillar and Lockheed Martin to keep the pension for new hires? They left the members out to dry then bowed down to give the company exactly what they wanted.

JOLIET, Ill.—Striking workers at a Caterpillar Inc. factory here ended a 3½ month strike Friday, bowing to demands they accept reduced health-care and pension benefits and wage freezes for veteran workers.

Workers ratified a contract that cuts health-care and pension benefits. Above, a striker shouted at autos entering the factory on Wednesday.
The vote to return to work is the latest sign that unionized employees have little power to buck employers' demands for concessions. High unemployment is making workers wary of risking their jobs, and Caterpillar and other companies that have historically offered generous union contracts have shown they are willing to shift production away from areas where unions are strong.
"We really got nothing," said Joe Johnson, 19-year veteran of a factory that makes hydraulic parts for Caterpillar's construction and mining machinery. He said he voted for Caterpillar's slightly sweetened terms partly because of worry about how he would keep paying his mortgage and partly because he feared the strike was crumbling and would end in disarray if a settlement wasn't soon reached.

Big deal, IAM picks up a few hundred dues payers in a right to work state that can free ride the union without paying dues. How many members did the IAM lose at NWA when they merged with DL? How many members did the IAM let down at Alaska when they facilitated outsourcing of ramp in Seattle? Most Alaska stations are handled by AA or DL workers, guess the IAM didn't negotiate sufficient scope.

Once again you post lies, the IAM did not facilate outsourcing at AS in SEA, the IAM won the arbitration case against AS.

Dont let the facts get in your way.

IAM scope language is weak, easily circumvented. Maybe Sito Pantoja can coach the district lodges to do a better job negotiating scope than Roach did.

Prove the language is weak in each CBA.

US IAM AMTs do more work in-house than any other carrier.

Keep trying, the master of misinformation.

Funny how you are proved wrong and you deflect and change the subject.

I don't believe that is true. It's at 50% billable hours. AA is at 35% mx spend. Sure, the metrics are apples and oranges but I think AA does more in house mx.

According to Bob Owens, AA's 35% is total mtc including line, US its only heavy.

He stated our language is better than AA's.

And AA is only in the beginning stages of outsourcing work.
