Local 70 Nominations- so Many!

I'm starting to think that no matter who is in office, they are all the same. I have been trying for several weeks to get an answer to a simple question. Wont' go into the details here; nevertheless, no one ever calls me back no matter how many promises I get. At least when TG was in office you could get answers immediately.

WOW, just read TG got 67 nominations! Good. I think she is the best person to guide us through right now.
I can't anyone at the AFA either anymore. Call the members of the MEC since they appointed the new people. I think the contact info is on the AFA website under MEC?
Goodluck

All those candidates who are running need to request from Brian (Interim LEC) that you want access to the Local e-line. PHL is a commuting base and many folks do not go to their mail files when they begin or end a trip.

I heard that Brian told one of the cadidates "NO". That is manipulating the election by limiting/restricting access in all forms of communication to the members. The E-lines are paid by union dues $$ and union elections are one of the most vital of "union business" there is.

Candidates need to write to the International and MEC Officers and let them know that the elections will be challenged if candidates are not able to have full access to all members in their respective bases for the purpose of the elections.

I saw the list of who is running for LECP. There are some real characters on there running who are known NOT to be unionists. PHL does not want to be stuck with the same caliber and mentality of the previous LECP.

Be careful and pay attention to these elections and who is sincere and who dishes out a bunch of "spin".

Pitbull,

Are candidates really allowed access to the e line, or is that something the current lecp can decide?

The current LECP can decide, and should allow it. The consititution speaks to fair and equal access to bulletin boards if a candidate requests it. When the provision was placed in the C&B there was no internet in existence, and communication was done by "paper". Now, everything is communicated electronically, even balloting.

If denied access to the local respective e-lines for the purpose of communicating to the members any candidate who is running, who felt they did not have access to all forms of commnicating with the members, specifically because the local president denied access, I would challenge the election to the International. I would also communicate this denial to every single f/a that I cam in contact with. All the local officers in the base are responsible for this denial of access.

I view it as manipulating the election by denying fair and equal access to all forms of communicating with the membership who 80% commute.

This does not bode well for the interim elected reps. Already they are denying information that will benefit all members to make an educated decision in these elections.

I wouldn't vote for any of the "interim" officers who are all happen to be running for the permanent positons. They have been tainted by the previous LECP and the MECP. These officers are restricting information to the members...information about their candidates that could help them decide on the best possible person for the position.

There is nothing good or descent about this.

Pitt Bull is correct! Any candidate has access to the e-line use of media, of course there is a fee for this. The fee paid to AFA is $75 to use the e-line media. Candidates are only allowed to submit a resume', not campaign on the e-line. Brian, Jason, and whoever else is in there, (or is anyone in there since they are not answering calls) I hope you are reading this, because it is in black and white. Ask your AFA National. And it WILL NOT be good for the interim officers if they deny access.

Where in the Constitution does it state "resume's only"????

The local PIT reelection in 2004 gave direct access to ALL CANDIDATES USE OF THE LOCAL E-LINE FOR THE PURPOSE OF CAMPAIGNING.

There is no fee for local e-line access. The rumor and the letter from International is mistaken. The MECP will alert the members via an MEC E-line to clear this up, so he said. But, as usual, he has not followed-through as of yet.

Any candidate who requests access and is denied by the local officers, should take this to the International and challenge these elections due to the Local officers manipulation of restricting information to the membership.

Let me get this straight.

The "interim" officers who have access to all flight attendants via E-line and who are all running for office, are refusing to offer the same to the other candidates?

Hell, I thought we just got rid of all the BS in PHL Local 70. What kind of chickens**t genius made this decision?

They all lost my vote.

Starting the same BS before a legitimate ELECTION!

UNBELIEVABLE. EITHER BRASS BALLS OR EXTREME IGNORANCE.

Got a friend in the Dept of L&I and I will be speaking to him Monday.

Wolf,

They refused a candidate already.

None of these "interim officers in PHL" should get any vote from the membership. Its the same old bullshit and they are being manipulated by the previous LECP and the MECP.

Obviously, these 3 can be controlled by others and have NO mind of their own, and they do not know or read the constitution and don't use their heads for common sense issues!!!

Any of the locals whose officers do not offer the use of the e-line to the candidates who are running for the purpose of providing campaign information to the membership in their respective bases, should not be reelected if they too are running.

Unbelievable. So noted. The interim officers weren't really in the running, anyway. After all, you did see the uniform that was posted for approval last year, right?

Well I don't like the sound of this one bit. I will definately be sure to pass this one on like wildfire. Hmmmmm.

Before you pass this on like "wild fire" you might want to be sure you get your facts straight. It is my understanding that the local e-line cannot be used for campaigning if that e-line is paid for by that locals membership. You are however allowed to use nationals e-line if you are willing to pay the $75 fee. Yes, I know, PIT let their candidates do it a few years back but at the time there were only 3 candidates running.

In PHL, there are 20+ candidates running for office. I personally would not want 20+ e-lines in my cyber mailbox.
If that was the case, one of the following scenarios would happen.....

1) After reading the first few, I'd probably just delete all the rest.
2)I wouldn't want to spend hours standing/sitting at my computer reading e-line resume after e-line resume so I wouldn't read any of them and would delete them all.
3)If I actually did take the time and read them all, they would eventually be deleted as I needed to make more room in my inbox and clean the clutter. Unless I saved them all I would not be able to go back and read them again....so I might forget who said what.....

While I know PHL is a base of over 2000 F/As, I think the candidates should put there money where their mouth is. Campaign the old fashioned way before we had e-mail. Spend the money to put your resume on paper and in F/A's mailboxes. This way each F/A would have the resumes to take with them and read at their convenience. They would also have them in hand for future reference or to compare each persons platform.

I believe someone posted that people don't always check their mailboxes. However, it's #45 in the work and conduct rules that we must check for company mail when reporting for a trip. I would bet that with PHL being a predominantly commuter base their mailboxes are probably checked even more because people sit around commuting in or out and check their mail file for something to do.

Also as far as the slam that current officers are using the e-line for their own use, I have not seen that happen so don't acuse them of it until they do....if they do.

Bottom line should be that the e-lines are used for company business.....not campaigning. If you want to go to national to send one out, pay your 75 bucks and have at it.

Just my 2 cents---I'm sure I'll get slammed for my comments so get out your claws and start scratching.

Page 2-4 of the F/A Emergency Manual #45 in Work and Conduct Rules states that we are required to check our mail files when reporting for a trip. While a lot of people might not do it one week, they most likely will do it the next. This is not a viable excuse for using the e-line and cluttering everyone's cyber mailbox with campaign materials..... Sorry that one doesn't work.

It doesn't work for you, than use your delete button!

I don't give a CRAP what's in a company policy and procedures.

F/as do not check their mailboxes all the time. You know better than that so don't start citing some kind of COMPANY policy.

This is UNION BUSINESS, E-lines are used for UNION business NOT company business! Company business is in your electronic mail file when you check-in OR on theHUB.
Campaigning for elections is UNION BUSINESS. With regard to PIT, you are incorrect, 6 candidates ran in 2004 for those positions.

And you are incorrect AGAIN. There is NO charge for using local e-line. The $75 from what I've read is the Computer forum regarding AFA International e-line.
