Sun Country Airlines after first NMB Mediated session

Sun Country and AMFA met for first time with NMB mediator. Not as much progress as in the Spirit/AMFA mediated session but as usual typical first meeting of intro's and discussions on where all parties are and where they will be moving into in the next sessions.
Nice to see the nego's back up and running again...

AMFA-SCA Negotiations Update #16

November 8, 2024 -- The parties met in Chicago last week (Oct. 15-17) for a three-day mediated bargaining session. This was our sixth session in mediation (2 virtual) under the National Mediation Board (NMB).

Doesn’t matter if Sun 🌞 Country is stable or not. They’re small with far less opportunities than any of them would have with the big 3.

Sun Country's operation doesn't demand the same 24/7 coverage that a hubbed airline does, and they'll never have to worry about uprooting their families. Some people see that as a positive....

Maintenance is normally 24/7 planes don’t get fixed while in the air. I would bet MSP is a 24/7 maintenance operation

Oh, I'm sure it is, but they don't operate a daily schedule like you'd see elsewhere, and the notion of a 45 minute turn simply doesn't exist. NFL and college football charters don't do a whole lot Monday thru Thursday, but the weekends can be hell, so you're more likely to see things like the ability to work 4x10 or 3x12 instead of 5x8.

Looks like the SC nego's has taken a turn. However, I will say, after this announcement of a possible strike vote and a change in the nego leadership the co side has started to move the ball faster. Maybe not fast enough as the strike vote was in fact called upon by the membership. 3 updates below:
On a side note; this weak regime will not allow them to be released from mediated talks, and I think we all know this...

December 11, 2024 -- The parties met December 3-5 at the NMB offices in Washington, DC. This was our seventh session in NMB mediation. On Day 1, the parties started with a discussion regarding the current landscape of negotiations, which included the Company explaining that Bobby Purzitza will be retiring and replaced at the bargaining table with Director of Outstation Maintenance, Scott Bjergo.
