The results are in and the membership has spoken. Out with the old and in with the new. Maybe these guys will finally understand that they were supposed to represent the MEMBERSHIP not their own self-interests. Results are posted at www.twu565.com

Looks like change is in the wind at DFW.

Now if we can just get rid of the idiots in the International Sellout Office.

Where's my ballot?

The EVIL TWU International  is probably having a secret meeting right now trying to figure out how to keep or kick these guys out of office.

This local cleansing should continue system wide shortly!

I am hoping it will do more than just shuffel the deck. It always seems once folks get in they forget all the things they said that made people vote for them. Possibly it will be different this time?????

This should be interesting to watch.

Your statement has held true. The new administrations will empower the membership by democracy. AFW was the only station with language in their bylaws that enabled the members to remove local officers by a vote of the members and this was approved by the international. When members of local 565 and and local 562 tried to adopt the same language in their perspective bylaws at the changing of the guard it was denied. We start with our locals and then we demand that the members can remove International officers as well just by a membership vote. We have to have the power to ensure we are being represented in our best interests and then have the power to put people in place that we the members feel will do the job and hold everyone accountable by the ability to remove them.

skydrol,

I was elected as E-Board for A/C Maintenance. During the election I "ran" with other AMTs who feel the same way I do about unionism. Our slogan was, "Clean slate in '08". (Kinda catchy.) All incumbent officials were NOT reelected except one.

The newly elected officials are NOT looking as this new position as a stepping stone to get into line to sip from the "Black Chalice of Greed". (We need only wait and see if any of the unelected officials go into the International.

I have been in DFW since February. I was asked to run because people thought I could make a positive difference. So I ran. During the election process I went to work and talked to people so they could put my face with my name on the ballot. I was amazed at the anger AMTs and Stock Clerks had towards those currently in office. I did not make promises and neither did those I ran with. Except one. That promise was and is to listen to the membership because we answer to the membership NOT the International.

What many TWU reps (both local and international) fail or refuse to realize is "THEY WORK FOR US", we don't work for them!
I pay these folks good money to do so. We are their boss and should be able to fire them whenever we feel they are not doing their job!!

I'm sure Little Jimmy would take issue with that kind of attitude. "Royalty" usually does take exception when something is expected of them.

The International boys and the local people working for those who pay them? You've got a helluva lot of nerve to think such a thing! That's Heresy! :p

Ken,
I do not recall hearing any promises from the folks campainging, however many statements were made and views were expressed. Everything I heard I agreed with. Do not feel like I am attacking now but I will wait and see what happens corruption influences many a good man to do a 180. I am not saying any of the new leadership will flip but you and I have been around long enough where we could share many examples of that happening. I believe you will do a good job, I am hoping for the best.

skydrol,

I do not think you are attacking. You have a legitimate point. Bobby Gless from NY was considered a "good guy" before he ran for office and is now in the International. Start a new thread titled "Who Likes BG" and see how much love comes from NY AMTs. When in a position to place oneself into an unelected, unaccountable International position with at least $120,000.00 paycheck will make many stop and decide where their character and beliefs are centered.

I thank you for the vote of confidence and I too hope for the best. I would not have ran for office if I felt that had we won that the only effect we would have would be as if we would be urinating into the wind. The new Local 565 officials coming into office bring full transparancy AND accountability. I am not looking for Monday-Friday, dayshift with weekends off at the Hall. I will be on Nights as much as possible because that is where I work. When needed to I will be at the Hall.
