skydrol,
I do not think you are attacking. You have a legitimate point. Bobby Gless from NY was considered a "good guy" before he ran for office and is now in the International. Start a new thread titled "Who Likes BG" and see how much love comes from NY AMTs. When in a position to place oneself into an unelected, unaccountable International position with at least $120,000.00 paycheck will make many stop and decide where their character and beliefs are centered.
All I can say is beware of the temptation of GREED.
Well the International disagrees, and they put it in writing. The International feels that they let you pick who is going to represent the International to the membership (your local officers)and they pick who represents the membership to the company(Conley, Gillespie, Burchette, Yingst and Gless). in the TWU system we have no Presidents, what we have are merely Chief Stewards. What many TWU reps (both local and international) fail or refuse to realize is "THEY WORK FOR US", we don't work for them!
I pay these folks good money to do so. We are their boss and should be able to fire them whenever we feel they are not doing their job!!
So what is being said is we get to pay the TWU International to work for them. Is that what I'm hearing? <_<Well the International disagrees, and they put it in writing. During the TWU Kangaroo Court "trial" the "Judge" asked me who comes first the International or the members. I said the members because they are the ones who voted for me to represent THEM. The TWU said "That admission is a violation of the oath of office which requires allegience to the International."

That's correct.
There is no provision in the TWU Constitution to recall International officers. Their "leadership" is appointed and we have no say whatsoever. Very similar to how the USSR Kremlin used to pick the Premier.
How's it hangin', comrade?

Silly me, but I thought the international -was- the members, and not a couple of guys wearing bad suits, smoking stogies and getting lap dances...
Ken, congrats for swimming against the flow and being elected.
Furthermore, to achieve any change in the twu international support from other local presidents is necessary. This includes non-ATD locals. So what are the chances of the president for the casino card dealers and the other non-ATD locals giving a rat's curled tail about AMTs? Democracy? More like manufactured unaccountability to me.
The Local AMT membership dictates how they want their local to be run that is why they elect who they do during elections. If those elected do not do what the membership wants they are not re-elected. That's democracy.
Actually what happens is prior to the Constitutional Convention, the International Leadership lines up required votes using promises of appointments to a $100,000.00+ lifetime job with no threat of a ballot ever removing you from office.
This is why the Locals and divisions are aligned the way they are. Bob Owens has posted some logically ways to structure the union but those would be beneficial to the membership instead of maintaining the status quo.
Ken, did you also get elected to Convention Delegate? This position is where change will someday be made in the TWU. Eventually a riot on the Convention Floor followed well planned and media attention grabbing strategic civil dis-obedience will take down the Dictators.
I congratulate you and others for winning Local Elections, but the delegate position would be of greater value.
This celebrated event open to all members or just AMT's ?When the new officers for Local 565 are sworn in to listen to the local membership I invite those wishing to to come down and celebrate the event.

Hopefully the new representation is not bias per work group and will represent equally.
Congrats Ken on the new position.
