I have yet found a list of all the great things that the TWU and the AFL/CIO have accomplished that have benefitted my career and my family. If someone can help me out I would appreciate it as I am empty on this issue.

I'll add one:

Well come to think of it, I can't think of anything either. Next :p

Come on! The twu gave us:

1) kirk wells and a new battle song!

2) The ability to vote on life changing concessions electronically with the ability to change your vote from YES to NO to YES to NO, etc. (That is if you were lucky to get a PIN number needed to vote.)

3) The removal of ELECTED union officials who did what their members wished even though the int. did not agree with them.

4) Int. officers who are NOT elected by the full membership.

5) Oh, and less I forget WE got to take pay & benefit cuts and atd int. officers do not.

6) Fire people who wear t-shirts that state the truth.

7) And! The twu gives us, (well, OK, just burchette), the ability to warm our hands in the company's pockets.

Sorry Chuck, I'm afraid there isn't anything "positive" or "great" to report.

They have made it possible to do more with less for less

Chuck glad to have you aboard. This is a great site with alot of good info

The TWU did accomplish one thing -- avoiding a dovetail of the TWA employees.

Considering all of the outsourcing that's gone on in the past 10 years, every time you get a paycheck, you could consider that an accomplishment, too. Of course, you'll #### about the amount of the check, but the fact still remains that they've preserved a lot more jobs than either the IAM or AMFA have at the other legacy carriers, including those who avoided bankruptcy.

The unskilled might consider that an accomplishment, I tend to doubt a certificated AMT would.

They have also given AA management nearly everything its wanted for 25 years without a fight. According to the numbers AA/twu filed with the NMB, we have 22000 twu M@R employees. If you look at the numbers now, we have about 11000 in M@R. So we have 11000 M@R on layoff?

I wouldn't call that saving jobs. Would you?

It's no surprise AA management fought so hard to stop an election and keep its compAAny union in house. If AA decides to turn on its twu "friends", do you think the twu will stop the outsourcing and the thousands of layoffs? Not hardly.

Wal-Mart employees get paychecks also.

Chuck, You might check with Bill,HSS,orJ7915 about those TWU "accomplishments". Only problem is you have to be drunk on TWU kool-aid to agree that these are "positive" and "great".
