Airline mechanics protest outside American’s Fort Worth headquarters

FORT WORTH

More than 400 workers blew whistles and shouted slogans during a protest outside American Airlines’ corporate headquarters Thursday.

Members of Transport Workers Union Local 513 are protesting the slow pace of negotiations with American over a new contract. The union, which represents about 4,000 mechanics and other fleet service workers, hasn’t had a new contract since the company emerged from bankruptcy in 2013. Not to everyones surprise was the fact that the IAM was not anywhere to be found to support the TWU during this protest. Many have speculated that the IAM is in fact in bed with the company during the slow paced negotiations.

“American Airlines is outsourcing a lot of its work to third-party vendors who have high turnover and pay lower wages,” said spokesman Brian Parker.

Wow! Still no show or support from the IAM side? What a divided group. Not good when you are trying to get a JCBA, you see the first letter in "J"CBA means joint, combined, when your this divided it will too hard to get to a JCBA.

Since we’ve actually “READ” the Article where part of this came from it’s easy as hell to see that you yourself wrote a whole bunch of “BS” onto the original article.

Why don’t you post your source material?

YOU SHOULD USE ALL CAPS AS WELL SO PEOPLE WILL PAY ATTENTION TO YOU!!!!!!!!!

If anyone is yelling it is the TWU at the protests, and if anyone is not saying a word it is the IAM at the TWU protests. That is because they are no where to be found. Probably just too busy as they are only meeting every 4 weeks for negotiations.

I think it was from an editorial from "New Yorker" Magazine or perhaps "The Economist"

anyone know how to set up poll? I'd like to know what non AA employee that posts here opinion matters less to you as an AA employee

I'm beginning to think all Tims post should include
"This brought to you by the committee to elect Tim Nelson"

It's sad but we don't have any District leaders who want to put their $172,000 on the line. Having Sito and Reagon, two GL peeps, as our only bargainers violates our bylaws. The negotiation committee do not bargain. Period. They stay down the hall and get everything second hand. Hopefully, this changes in April. Sito will be removed, then turned over to the FBI after we do an internal investigation of the Delta forgeries and we get evidence.

Negotiations will be turned over to the District. As IP, I don't believe the GL should be involved in any negotiations, and nobody who doesn't come underneath that particular contract. So, for the Association, that means a District Officer will be in charge of negotiations, as the bylaws stipulate. We already scheduled a June special convention which will propose that any chief negotiator has to be from the particular contract he/she is negotiating. This is one of my main things on my platform. Means that we would have to get the GL resources to a LUS district officer. They know their situation better than the GL.

McGee and UGE, we will have to unpack and figure out but both contracts are a cancer. LOA in the UA agreement gives up all work, i.e., every single job at United, if management so chooses, so it's a mess, currently.
