Yeah, he's kind of like that saying get rid of your Association, holding up his AMFA pom poms, meanwhile he has no answers what's going on in SWA's backyard.
Get rid of the Association? No one on the property voted on it; it was concocted in March 2013, reportedly at the direction of the AFL-CIO. The membership was originally promised a vote which never happened despite repeated posts by a vocal IAM drumbeater who has since left this forum.
The TWU ultimately manned up and stepped aside in 2006 after HP/US, but only after violence at the PHL Marriott and dozens of terminations and litigation. The IAM brought on the mess of TWA, plaguing the company with debt, dumpy old misfit aircraft, dilapidated facilites that are now shuttered all while ending the careers of many of their “bothers and sisters”.
It’s time for the IAM to man up and grow a set. They’ve pivoted the future of their organization to focusing on low wage, low benefit type outfits like McGee and UGE, plus their leadership talked of getting a hand in the gig economy at the AFL-CIO convention this week.
