JCBA Negotiations and updates for AA Fleet

I call them a "gimmick" insofar as they are beneficial to but a limited group of people while the GOP will tout their creation as some huge break through in providing healthcare access, substantial cost savings, or the prevention of medical related bankruptcies to the general public.

Not sure why you had to go political, but...
Was it a Democrat "gimmick" to start methadone clinics because it only benefitted a limited group of people?
And what is this "limited" group of people that benefits from HSA's?
Dude, anyone can get an HSA.
And btw, it is a huge break through in providing healthcare access. So many are just looking short term and not big picture.
Over time, if more people go to the low cost- High deductible plans and fund their HSA's, the cost of health plans could actually drop on the lower deductible plans to attract more people in them.
In the mean time, those that do fund their HSA's will have the money to stay in the lower cost plans with high deductibles , hence , making healthcare more accessible and prevent medical related BK's.

True. But in either case they claim to be sharing more information. But whatever, it is what it is. I don't envy you. How are you preparing to explain this whole dump? Not exactly the happiest people on earth there in Miami, if you don't have a Costco membership yet you should get one for the industrial size bottle of ibuprofen you're gonna need.

I have to give CB and P. Rez credit that they do get out and share their perspective more than any others in the Fleet Negotiations. And if that does bother my TWU buds tough luck, you need to up your game if it bothers you. But now Steve that does leave 4 others on the IAM side who I don’t hear hide nor hair of. And in the Maintenance Negotiations the only people I hear from are both TWU in Peterson and Danker.

I guess it all just depends on the individual and also how much stock you place on his or her perspective.

Steve while I agree with you to a level of about 95% , the 5% where you lose me is that because they are still negotiating everything is still subject to change. Slim likelihood perhaps but I have been told it does occur.

You and I both know also that there is a ton of items in a CBA that people never even bother to look at or read unless it directly effects them or you want to be a Union official and enjoy the learning process.

But I’ve always agreed that the Association updates should be a lot more in depth. Not everyone agrees with that though and some feel there shouldn’t be any updates at all. Seriously.

I agree with that and for the record agreeing with you this much makes me feel dirty.
And the part about some wanting no updates doesn't surprise me 1 bit.
That's it where's the firehose, I need to get cleaned off

Way too dirty to agree anymore

Just tell it like it is.

Basketts email was complete fraud.
He isnt clt voice at the table since they arent even at the table. Everything they get is secondhand as they simply allowed sito to go solo.
He mentions me and politics but i dont get any political juice telling iam members that we should be picketing jointly. Most iam members believe the twu is the enemy cuz our leadership claims twu doesnt want our insurance. If i was playing politics, i would pretty much not mention picketing with the twu.

At any rate, they are stalling. I can say that with certainty because they havent fought alongside. Either fight or stall. At any rate, the dol busted mark before for using his email list and ill ask for access to it now since he triggered election talk again.

I guess the dol cant stop him from doing things he was already instructed before not to do.

I like mark but they are certainly stalling cuz they are standing down regarding coordinated efforts.
There is no way the company will take anyone seriously if the twu stands alone. In the meantime i guess mark will use his list for political purposes. Im glad he is angry, hopefully they get up off their asses and join the rest of the association. Hopefully he goes to dfw. Mark you goin to dfw or do you gotta ask sito?

And its doubly sad that him and fairbanks coughed up back to back pt by reinterpreting the language.
Sad

Stalling? Yeah I guess they like being away from their families and living out of a suitcase. 3 more years why not. Tim don't you think they could really be stuck on issues medical for example. Besides didn't you say Fleet was done and just waiting for AMTS. It really looks like you have a personal ax to grind

Don't know, looking at the scheduled meetings, doesn't seem to be much more time away from their families than you and I spend just going to work. Suitcases? How about a back pack. You know what Al, I bet their home with their families while many of us are working during these upcoming holidays. And even you guys are compensated a bit better than us TWU folks if you are having to work. Sorry Al, stalling might not be factual, but your argument doesn't do much for us here on the TWU side.

He did say that and much more as I recall. Actually told us just what Santa was going to bring us by Christmas.

Yea right. All I got was a lump of coal man.

Tim stated he came to the conclusion that they were stalling because they "haven't fought alongside" I'm pretty sure they were alongside one another at the negotiation table. We've discussed this before I don't understand your frustration for 2 more holidays and 30 cents more an hour. You don't seem to be the type that would have sour grapes over LUS having better medical. I feel here on the fleet side we pretty much got what we are going to get and there might be something in the new contract that you won't like

Absolutely, 100% Incorrect.
HSA money has triple tax advantage. The other 2 do not let you spend the money untaxed.

"With a traditional IRA or 401(k), if you are eligible, you get a tax deduction for the amount you contribute to the plan. The money grows tax-deferred, and then you pay taxes when you withdraw it in retirement.

With an HSA, you get the same tax deduction when you contribute money, but when you use the money in your HSA for medical expenses and qualified health insurance premiums, it comes back out tax-free."

Assuming it isn't spent in weekly doctor's visits... ever have young kids? I have co-workers who have their kids in various weekly therapies, not to mention, trips to urgent care centers for various falls, cuts, bites and illnesses of the week from school. How about someone who requires weekly lab visits to monitor blood chemistries due to chronic condition?

If it was such a great deal for everyone, don't you think everyone would have sign-up for all that tax free money?
