JCBA Negotiations and updates for AA Fleet

No, go with it, they didn't mention UA they only said 3% over DL. I wonder if MB still thinks we can rap this up quickly after MTC catches up

Nah listen these guys aren't blowin smoke that what they were offered was basically garbage on the Comprehensive proposal. The Company is trying very pathetically if you ask me to blow smoke (spin) up our arses in that Jetnet/Workbrain BS. It's all in the tricks of how they're trying to word things to try and make it look good. "Lipstick on a pig"

They have all sorts of creative writings in there to try and outsource people over time through attrition. Plus they're coming up with all sorts of ways to cut down on OT or greatly minimize that expense.

That proposal doesn't even really do a good job at pandering to my half of the As.s. For your side it's an almost unanimous no vote.

BTW go read the comments under the topic on the Company site. Ha Ha they're taking a schlacking.

Is that "unofficial update" from someone who is "officially" a part of the Negotiating committee?

I don't want to read another "unofficial update" from some Alfred E Neuman character floating around out there with one or two screws needing to be tightened.
Yes!

PRez,

Obviously, LAA does not do catering and I believe LUS does deicing as well as LAA. Why do you not throw out here the other things AA is wanting to outsource you say they failed to mention in regards to Fleet. Seems to me it would only unite the membership even more. AA has fired the first shot, let's go, lets step it up. These little updates with gaps are getting old.

I agree.

I think I said " try to wrap this thing up" not wrap it up quickly once maintenance catches up. Just meant we would be going in there as 30 thousand strong for the economic package. But remember, negotiations can turn on a dime, for the better or worse. Not sure where we will go since company has decided to negotiate with everyone instead of the committee. Don't get me wrong, I'm fine with that, it's just not what was agreed to when this started.

I think I sent it (maybe twice) to your PM.

Thanks bro. Just read it. Excellent job by the author. To just comment on one thing about it without divulging too much.

The author needs to go read the thread on the Company Computer to see the reaction from the TWU peeps on that proposal.

Not to mention it hasn't been very popular on Facebook Group pages either.

Sorry Company Reps but no one is even nibbling on the bait.

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

Yesterday, the company put out a letter with a much distorted view of our contract negotiations. The company would like you to believe that they have offered an industry leading contract proposal. The fact is that the only place that the company proposal will lead us to is right out of a job. The proposal is full of outsourcing of our jobs and concessions of our benefits. This is true for the Fleet Service and the Maintenance contracts.

The company should be ashamed of themselves. Their desire to outsource deicing and Title II work in Chicago is only a small part of their overall plan to shift our work to outside vendors. The Local 512 membership has proven over and over again that we deice planes, fix jet bridges and ground equipment better than anyone. This is our core work and we have bailed out their substandard vendors time and time again when they fail. For the company to ask for more of our work is insulting. To do so in a manner that it is part of an “industry leading contract” proposal is reprehensible. This company is making grotesque profits and we have done our share. Just look at the pathetic job that the vendor is doing with bus driving. Look at the poverty wages paid to the cabin and building cleaners. Let’s not forget that we are working under the bankruptcy contract that is already full of concessions; frozen pensions, higher health insurance costs, and outsourcing of our work.

And let’s not forget about our IAM brothers and sisters. The company is quick to propose draconian changes to their benefits too. US Airways went through bankruptcy more than once. They have felt the pain.

The TWU is not standing idle. The protests in DFW and MIA have shaken management. Now it is our turn. Local 512 and Local 591 are planning a major event next weekend and we need your participation. The event will take place on Friday, September 1 and Sunday, September 3 from 8:30 AM – 2:00 PM. If you chose not to participate, we need you to CSW for someone that will. Lunch will be provided. Transportation will be provided to the event site. Details will be communicated to you ASAP.

I understand that this event will take place on Labor Day weekend. That being said, this is the most appropriate holiday to fight for workers’ rights. This is the fight for our job security and for our livelihoods.

Fraternally,

Tim Murphy
President TWU Local 512

Not sure about LUS deicing anymore, I know that we have a vendor doing it most of the MTC staffed locations. Back when I was in a smaller station, we did it as a ramp function. Given that all of the smaller stations are outsourced, that doesn't leave much. If the company is looking to give catering away on the LUS side, they shoud give cargo back since the LUS West stations have it along with LAA at the Hubs.

Sounds to me like both AA and SWA mechanics are in the very same boat. Both co's. want more outsourcing. Both co's. are playing the same games t put out false and misleading information. Both co's are stallin and stallin on nego's. Both co's are NOT offering what we deserve in retro pay. Both co's. are trying to divide and concur the memberships. Sad to watch 2 companies run away with record upon record profits for the last 5 years or so, and we still have no raises while the company execs get all of theirs. Over here the co. is just trying to buy the membership for more and more scope, well, were sick of it. The dollars just don't add up to the scope, know what I mean? Good luck to you guys.

I for one am glad that management put out that letter. For some time now many people (myself included) have been complaining about the pace of the negioations. I personally feel the crap sandwich outlined in management's offer should shed light on what the negotiators are dealing with. I have been asking for more detailed information to be released and with the update that AA put out it has rumbled the membership to a point where people "should" be patient enough to let this play out. I want zero givbacks. I have been in 4 (jfk lga phx dfw) stations in my 29 years with AAL and deicing was always performed by the TWU. I wouldn't let LUS lose catering and I would like to see a scope clause number for mail. LAA took mail away from us and at the time we weren't moving that much mail. The new AA LOVES mail, there should be a number similar to station staffing in pounds for us to regain the mail operation.
This contract is not close IMO and mid 2018 might be an early guess. But that's just my 2 cents
