JCBA Negotiations and updates for AA Fleet

If what P.REZ says holds true to form and we can jump on the company with 30,000 on the same page in October, there is no way in heck we will have a new contract wrapped up before 2018. With the big Holidays coming up and the time consuming process it takes just to get a T/A out to the members, mid 2018 at best. IMO
Honestly, I think sometime after the re-enrollment things will move very quickly.

Keep in mind all of our updates in the last year and a half. The TA's we've got to date, around 30, have enhanced most of the articles. We have addressed all the areas that we were behind the industry. When all is said and done, our plan has been and continues to be industry leading. Does that mean every single item, no! That means, overall, industry leading. I get the frustrations, many believed DP when he said everything would be great, however, they are not giving away the farm, they are doing what corporate America does, fight. We are fighting too. When the JCBA comes out, you'll be the judge with your vote! Our main concerns continue to be Health Insurance, retirement benefits, compensation and scope.

So release the company’s offer . We have the right to know what the company thanks of us. I haven’t believed dp,from day one he is a used car salesman. Politician kissing baby’s will say anything . Plus how do we know the Ta are better you want tells us what they are. Why the secrecy

Ok so they release ALL the details in their entirety and Member # 1 loves it and wants to vote and accept it. Member # 2 hates it and wants them to keep going.

So you don't believe Member # 1 and 2 won't be at each other's throats?

But yes again some of the updates could be a little more fleshed out. (Or you can go to your Union meeting and ask questions?)

Everybody on this site has seniority the fact you have to explain it is ludicrous and quite frankly embarrassing. I think Coney is a smart guy must be his emotions, must be from the long hours he spent refurbishing stereos for the "WIZ"

Are you a comedian? Sure was funny when you said to go to your union meeting and get answers.

Rez,

We have had our disagreements in the past, and knowing some on the NC, I hope this statement isn't a preperation for the NC coughing up the LUS healthcare. I realize not everybody will be happy about any T/A that may or may not come out. Because it seems as if you are trying to soften the blow with the whole "Does that mean every single iten, no!". The only time that the IAM did a good job was our last CBA, the July 2014 one. All previous ones were a bit shady. I'm still not sure that I trust Sito not to pull a UA on us. But I guess the proof will be in the pudding. Besides you have absolutly no good reason to use as an excuse for coughing up the LUS healthcare, none.

There is no reason to cough up lus healthcare. There wasnt one single proposal in the survey from lus members to concede healthcare. Therefore the nc has no authorization to give it up. The fact that we are discussing this is offensive in the context of billion dollar quarters.

We fought to keep this when our company lost billions, prez has no right to give it up while DP makes billions.
Prez -1

Ultimately, whatever is put in front of us will be voted on. Most votes wins the day.
Hopefully, we vote soon.

So you're only interested in them because they have good writers in their group? 5 years of great updates, woo hoo. 🙂

But yes the Association updates are terrible I agree.

Can't speak to the communication skills of the TWU, but as a long time IAM member, I have witnessed through the years the IAM's failure to adequately communicate with the membership. Especially detailed communication updates concerning contract negotiations. There is the argument that detailed updates concerning proposals would create more confusion as proposals that are on the table this session may be off the table at the next negotiations meeting. I guess they feel the membership is easily confused. Easier to keep them uninformed and speculating I guess. Not sure I have ever agreed with this strategy.

pjirish317,

My comment only had to do with will everything be industry leading. No, some will be industry average. As for Insurance, that will be discussed in economics. As I have briefed in breakrooms, 110,000 employees have the LAA insurance, 10,000 have the LUS insurance. These are the facts we have to try to overcome. It won't be easy.

I have a question for you IAM guys...First, I want it known that I agree 100% with you that your medical should not be touched, especially since it has survived two BK's and it would be considered a concession. I will also add that I honestly question the chances of that happen. Now, in my opinion, the LAA folks will look at the totality of the T/A and the medical will not be a huge issue, especially if their premiums and deductibles do not increase. They are already conditioned to pay what they do and have already budgeted for it over the last few years/contracts. Again, in my opinion, they will look at all the other enhancements i.e Holidays, Sick time, shift differential, pay...etc which will all be improved (more than likely) from what they have had in the past. Having the numbers, it is more likely than not that a T/A with the loss of your current medical would pass. My question, you guys are so adamant (don't blame you) about not losing your healthcare, would you consider the LAA guys sellouts for approving a T/A without it. I have always wondered if combining two contracts into one would cause lingering divisiveness among the two groups.

I will say though, if your side of the NC wants a possible rejection of any T/A, have them include forcing LAA into the IAM pension.

I too believe after re-enrollment. LUS gets a one year reprieve until eventually being put under LAA's plan. The membership numbers, regarding this issue, are unfortunately not there. Seems to be the big issue for the company. What do we get in return is the question.
