I gotta think that Lockheed got permission from the Grand Lodge. So that's a good sign.

Separately, I wanted to note that we were shelved in our negotiations while Parker negotiated a Bankruptcy contract at American. So, it all started with us being on the backburner.

You do honestly make it sound like IAM people need "permission" just to tie their freakin shoes?

???????

I pay about $130 per month and it covers me and my two kids, I just don't see what everyone is jumping up and down and throwing themselves on the floor about.

I won't disagree with your math and your opinion in some people's overreaction except to say that once a spouse is added to the insurance coverage (even with the inclusion of children) the rate increase significantly. I found it odd how if kids are included (regardless of numbers) the monthly cost is a modest increase, but include a spouse and the premium soars.

The cost difference also matters greatly with LUS as part-time pay a much higher premium. Somewhat sadly ironic that those scheduled to work fewer number of hours (and probably lower take home pay) contribute at much higher insurance rate.

There are "people" in your Union who secretly enjoy this because they gain the savings. I also know and have spoken to many Union people over the years (Many Unions) who have the opinion that PT people get all they deserve.

They'll gladly step on as many of those heads as they can.

And then the IAM made the TWU wait to file with the NMB until they got their own standalone contract.

Personally I called all the early BS (Even Steven) quite awhile back man. Are their Leaders in the Association on both sides who still need a tissue box?

The moral of the story is divorce has it's silver linings, just kidding.
I would assume the rate increases proportionally with a spouse on both the LUS and LAA plans.
I had been wondering what the real numbers were and when Tim posted what his costs were, it just happen to match what kind of plan I had with LAA, so it was a very good comparison.
At the end of the day, 14 cents per hour difference.
The argument about health insurance being a deal breaker loses a lot of steam when put in proper perspective.

I'm not throwing down over that.
I will fight for an industry leading 401K v the IAMPF, much more money and control of money at stake there.

I think the issues come out more in the deductibles that people are concerned with? The "OMG what if something's happens to me or my family" effect. What if?

And Tim made some comment about the IAMPF a few pages back that I'm still waiting for him to respond to? (I think the boy knows somethin about them thar negotiations he's playin hush hush on?)
