Don't know if there will be any type of "bonus" giving LUS compensation for higher rates considering customer service didn't receive oneAgree. There may be a "signing bonus" to pay for the change in the medical. If that is the case and you put that payment on top of another 3% or 4% DOS raise, more holidays, sick days for the LAA side and they will run towards it.
Members are frustrated and if they were being advised what is happening in a better and more detailed fashion, they may vote for a better deal. However, the frustration being felt only makes the probability of a yes vote much higher as few want to wait for more negotiations.
The trick will be, to structure the medical and scope in a fashion where enough LUS guys vote for it rather than continue with the current process. If left to the LUS guys, there is absolutely no reason to accept anything that changes their medical or scope. Why would they? We wouldn't.
That being the case, the medical and scope may be bought out. That may raise the number of LUS votes and it will definitely raise the LAA votes.
We'll see.
