Is that Tim's laundry basket weez!

No that's mine Bob. Tims is loaded over with all sorts of dirty and smelly items.

Anyway maybe now that the morning games are apparently over maybe we can get back on topic?

Good question by Archie (Chil) just above you.

l prefer the games, at least your not asking him to coffee anymore and don't talk about Tim like that

It is frustrating that we don't meet again until May 22nd. The negotiating team knew when we got this news that the membership would be frustrated. Having said that. Keep in mind who is negotiating now. Sito and Harry or the company officials that are in there now, are not going to negotiate every week. But the good news is, they make really good progress the weeks they are negotiating. This week went very good as far as making progress. I have said before. Sito and Harry are not coming in to negotiate for another 6 months. They plan on wrapping this up. While it is frustrating that we don't meet until the week of May 22nd, it is good like Prez says that we have 5 weeks between now and the end of July. While I can't give specifics, I can tell you IF things continue to progress like they have the last two meetings with the executive team, we will be very close to an agreement. We might even have one. I know many are frustrated. And rightfully so. But believe me, other than leading industry pay, you simply would vote no if we brought out what the company was offering. So we have to continue the fight. We will get there. But the company counts on people being impatient. They count on them getting pissed at their negotiating team. They love reading this stuff and hearing the frustrations. They even in the past have posters on here to fuel the flame. I think Prez and I try to keep you as informed as possible. I would ask all that are on here to help spread the word. Are you helping spread the word? Or are you helping fuel the frustrations. I'm not sure what many think they will achieve from fueling frustrations. I would ask all to help spread the word in your work areas to stay determined to get a leading industry contract. That's what we deserve. And that's what we are fighting for. I am personally not going to vote to bring something out to the members that I have to ask you to vote no for. I wouldn't be doing my job, if I felt you should vote no. But this doesn't come easy. That's just how these guys negotiate. Nothing unexpected if you've been through it before with this group.

No mention of the NMB being brought in, so I will ask. Did the company demand or request it?
Did Sito and Lombardo agree to it and did you (NC) have any input?
And if they did agree, why?
Isom mentioned this three weeks or so ago, was the Association aware of it at that time?

I was told the handle that Jerry Glass himself used to use here in the past when you were negotiating against him.

Well known there were others as well. And I'm sure they still come lingering on here from time to time.

Thanks for the updates Rezzzzzz and Mr B.

Keep in mind. The negotiating team is not in the negotiating room anymore. However we are fully briefed on what is going on. We ARE NOT under mediation. We agreed to let LP sit in the room and observe negotiations. Some on here I'm sure will post that it's the same as mediation. Well it's not, and those that state that are just stating it out of ignorance, or trying to make their point. While I want to brief everyone as much as possible, I don't want to say things that could slow talks. So I hope this answers your question sufficiently. I will say that Lp like Prez stated was the mediator of our last contract. She is a former flight attendant that is from a union background. I also know that Sito and her have a long history.

You people need to wake up. The deal is DONE. They brought the NMB in so they can blame it on them. We already have a TA. They just want to figure out a way to spin it. If it was a good deal it would already be released.

There is no such thing as Negotiation . AA puts a set amount of money on the table and lets the Union figure out how to issue it . That is a FACT.

You're not even close to correct. When we get a TA, you won't hear anyone blaming LP. Hopefully DP realizes we aren't accepting less than the best contract in the industry.

Then why make us wait?

Are you forgetting that when we removed Todd from our local and I was in the room to replace him. I was there. I saw it with my own eyes. You remember I told everyone at my local that all you guys was doing was getting drunk every night. You then corrected me and said " I am wrong. WE get drunk every OTHER night.
Everything that was talked about was based on the amount of money the company had put on the table. I asked why don't we work on a plan that would not just let one station do what needs to be done and I was told that WE COULD NOT TALK LIKE THAT. See when you tell The Truth, It will set U Free.

Bob. Since last year thru current we ve lost 15 people due to termination transfers accidents etc. Approval for 4 newbies. Somehow some way the corp math vs our reality dont mix. Enter our warm humid months i think our injury rates go up as peeps here are fed up working severely short staffed back to back flights. Often with excessively high loads esp military movements and we get those on average 4 or 5 times a week

Years ago I helped a friend buy a new car. I gathered all the facts I could on the car and searched around at prices and option packages before I made the move on one particular dealership that had the car the guy wanted. Of course the salesman started off a little below his own sticker price to make it look like we were getting a deal.

After haggling with the guy for a long time and him doing that back and forth schtick with having to ask his manager and me threatening to walk out (The guy I was with wanted to grab the deal at one point) I finally exhausted the salesman enough that he brought out the invoice to prove they were only going to make $500 on the car and I said OK.

A lot of our past negotiations were a little different then they are today. But you are "somewhat" right. Let's say the Company in their minds for example is willing to tack on 500 Million to their Labor Cost expenses in these talks. Do you think they walk in the door and tell us that they're willing to do that? Of course not. The first aim of course is to try to flim flam and get a cost neutral deal. Hell long term even a cost savings if we had morons in there (We don't)

So over time the back and forth commences to get to that (unknown) bar they have in their minds. Other factors can also play in getting to that bar. Timelines they want or need it done by for either investor security, loan agreements, a POR, or Executive performance bonuses, or even something they feel they can work with.

The only time how you word it comes into play is if you are in concessionary bargaining talks (Where costs need to be cut either through BK or the fear of BK, "What NYer went through) or they throw a number out so large that you bulge your eyes out of your head and they tell you to put the pieces together to make it fit.

Otherwise it's almost like a game of cat and mouse trying to figure out how much they're willing to sell that car to you for, before saying they're done with you and let you really walk out of that dealership.

Hope this helps clear it up for you a little?

BTW I'm curious. What year were you a part of negotiations and what was going on in the industry or at your company at that time?

Were they raking in profits hand over fist or were they barely scratching to survive?

And what is it to you if "MEN" want to drink a little bit here and there as long as they can still perform the job?

I never really liked or trusted "MEN" who don't throw down the occasional Pint or two myself. They come across as very judgmental and too Holier then thou for my tastes. Sticks in the mud, boring people.
