Mediation in this environment is not a good thing for us.

This will either drag out much longer or we will get closer to what the Company wants.

You did read the conditions for NMB participation right? They are not beholden to having to negotiate against her schedule or communicating with us.

The fact there is a need for mediation and both parties agreed shows there is an issue in the room to get a deal done. There seems to be little movement and if a mediator is brought in, the advantage goes to the Company.

If they don't agree with the mediator, then the process continues on its current path.

If they do agree with the mediator, then the process is moving towards the Company's liking.

Either way, for the TWU, it is not a good turn of events.

Why do you want a contract so bad? What do you hope to gain from it?
Bob, I'm not in a real hurry for a contract, I just don't think the Association was in our best interest. Nothing more nothing less. But I do recall you saying, they are there now, deal with it, nothing you can do about it.
You're correct, but I will continue to voice my displeasure until they bring back the industry leading contract they promised. When and if that happens, I may or may not apologize, but I will eat my crow. I'm 57 Bob and I don't have long. I would like to experience a real union contract and not a bankruptcy contract before I leave this place.

A Mediator is always slightly slanted towards the company. Always have been

You can make that argument. However, even if the Mediator stays neutral, they will try to reach a middle ground using industry comparables that take away some of our arguments as we seek to make gains in many different areas in one fell swoop.

Mediation isn't a medium conducive to make up ground in many different areas.

I think I'll stay out of the "sky is falling" frame of mind if you don't mind. And also go with what Charlie Brown and P. Rez had to say when they both agreed that they "THINK" (Have to make those things as clear as possible for you) this ""COULD" be wrapped up by July.

# 1 They have negotiated much more than you have.
# 2 They actually have negotiated with this management team and Jerry Glass before.
And # 3 They ARE actually in those rooms and have been there since day 1.

It may bother you since you actually tend to argue with them almost as often as with me BUT even you should admit they have a leg up on you in the credibility department?

(Please don't take this seemingly personal again)

No, but I bet it's conducive to being "cost neutral", a company requirement.

Weez was Prez and CB aware the mediator would be joining talks when the made those remarks?

You'd have to ask them Al but I wouldn't be surprised? You know she's not the enemy and actually could help in letting maybe cooler heads prevail on "either" side if there is a stumbling block issue?

She could wind up being helpful? Who knows?
