JCBA Negotiations and updates for AA Fleet

Your assumption is incorrect that NYC (and MIA) do not have advocates in the negotiations to make sure they're voices are heard.

The article involving rotations in NYC has already been TA'd and after full JCBA ratification those affected members will be given a separate vote to determine whether or not they want to continue with the current system on the LAA side.

For clarity on the subject the rotations started in the early 80's out of JFK when management was given the ability to rotate and the Local there at the time fought back that their members should be able to enjoy the benefit also. At the time to hold steady weekends in JFK one needed 24 years with the company.

After it was gained by the Local for JFK it then rolled over as a benefit to LGA members as well.

For Al and his member advocates he will have the chance to vote against the rotations and even if he fails there will be continuing discussions on how and when it will be implemented for his members.
Ah perhaps there is a way to appease me,,,, Weez notice I said "me"

Al I was told to let you know that there is the possibility that the rotating won't happen where you work until the construction at LGA is finished which from reading about it is another 5 years away? (Possibly)

I was also told to tell you if you don't want to take the risk you should transfer to JFK and work in Cargo. They don't rotate.

Al if I didn't like you I wouldn't have asked about any of this chit you know. In June I'll have been gone 20 years from LGA.

Oh and your box is doomed. They need a place to put tires in. Yep now you got magazines, tissues and tires gonna be piled up in there.

Tires Al, tires.

can someone explain why RDO would be beneficial

The benefits are in the eyes of those that have worked in it.

In general, if affords an opportunity for more people to get weekends off. Some like it because they can experience the weekends, parts of the weekends but have a steady stream of regular days off for things that are difficult to schedule on weekend, such as doctors appointments. Others like it because of the variety of the changes that also allows them to experience the heavy OT days, at least the time of the week where OT is more likely. Some enjoy it because they can just pick the job they like knowing they will eventually also have the weekends off. Others get a feeling managers can't play with the days off to get rid of someone they don't like from their area, whether a CC or FSC, just because the days off were changed. It also helps to get holidays off by bidding a set of days off that will rotate to having the holidays off but not needing to work a Tues/Wed or a Wed/Thurs for an entire bid.

Overall, those that have the rotating day offs have had it since their first day on the job and it is something that you quickly get used to and don't really mind. When I went from rotating days off to steady days off, it actually took some time to get used to it, believe it or not.

It's an individual taste, but something most have gotten used to and apparently want to keep.

how about a push for 10 hr. workdays/3 days off a week? no takers?

Before the BK, there was one station that had a few positions that were 4/10, but they wanted to get rid of them. It was hard to CSO and CSW, they didn't seem to match up with other shifts very well. The OT became more scarce. They also complained about it leading to cutting of manpower.

On the other hand, it seems the mechanics loved the 4/10's and wanted to expand on the availability.

I don't know how the IAM feels about it, but it would be surprising if it made a comeback in the Fleet world. It could be possible, since the players around today are not the same as those prior to the AMR BK.

Personally, I don't think we'd want that to come to our station as it would definitely cut manpower.

To me it takes away the one thing we value the most, seniority. NYer how would you like to bid vacation weeks in rounds?

So Al just thought of something. Now you finally get the chance to really understand what it means to be in a Union. You have a heads up for what's coming your way. Not just one vote but two. And I have a feeling that second vote is more important to you than the first.

Now comes the hard part. You need to start rallying people to your cause. You need to figure out how to convince kids that are currently stuck with Tue Wed that it's in their best interest to look into the future long term and agree that steady days off is what's best for THEM.

If you try to sell it that they should be looking at it for what YOU want you're going to lose that vote.

Gaining the support of the majority in a Union is what it's all about Al. It's a collective mentality against the individual mindset.

Good luck there Brother.

The average Walmart Sales Asociate and Cashier pay is in the low $9.00 per hour. I think in that case it's fairly easy and inexpensive to compensate them for more PTO than you and I. But yes I would like to see a strengthening in those areas as well.

http://news.walmart.com/news-archiv...lmart-associates-receive-pay-increase-in-2016

When these changes go into effect, Walmart’s average full-time hourly wage will be $13.38/hour. The average part-time hourly wage will be $10.58/hour.

http://money.cnn.com/2016/01/20/news/companies/walmart-pay-raise-wages/

The company said Wednesday that the second round of wage hikes in February will bring the average hourly wage to $13.38 for full-time workers and $10.58 per hour for part-timers.
