Listen to Parker's state of the airline question/answer spin Friday...the crickets will be chirping then I bet ya!

Here's a question for the readers to ponder. If I chose not to use the Medical insurance that AA offers me, why don't I get a rebate for the costs I'm "supposedly" saving them?

Because I maybe go to the Doctor once a year (some years not at all) and they LOVE keeping that part of my compensation. (Don't like the idea of becoming a pill popping drug addict either BTW)
We should get a rebate. It seems to be a win win for company and employee, and other companies do it if someone opts out and on a spouse insurance.

That said, looks like we will have a long time to talk about this since the last negotiation report was that the company is now stalling. Something gotta give. Prez seemed to think things were moving rapidly, however the latest update from the MX was extremely disheartening and said that management was stonewalling, sorta the exact opposite of what Prez said. Both could be right as the latest update was from MX, but Prez is ramp. If the company is truly in stonewalling mode then I doubt it gets out of that mode and we missed our opportunity. Let's hope things move forward. I was concerned about missing the window of opportunity but Parker truly does seem to want a contract when you look at the town hall videos. Somebody is lying or not forthcoming. Secondly, the biggest hangup, as far as I read, is with MX seniority, as the company wants to pretty much abolish it for key items. Not sure that is as big an issue with fleet. At any rate, not sure how our 16,000 members would feel about the Association if it puts any fleet TA on the shelf for an extensive delay or postponement if we have to wait on MX. The negotiation team already said that the union bosses will insist on parking fleet until MX is ready for a TA.

Currently, we are losing $925 a month.

in the situation I'm in I'm losing a lot more than that more like roughly 1500 depending on the final numbers

There is a personal negotiations update out from TWU Local 591 President Garry Peterson if people want to read it. I posted that update on my FB page for whoever wants to capture and share it.

yea I read it. He doesn't seem too positive about management, or at least I didn't get any indication that things were progressing. Personally, I felt more comfortable with Prez version of things. My assumption is that both of their personal reflections are accurate and that the seniority issue is possibly going to be a problem for MX. If it is a no cost item then I can't see management standing in the way on that, at the end of the day??

As an aside, I saw a notice talking about "Flag day" in which fleet service is being asked (not sure by who) to meet at the flag in solidarity. Not sure what airport, or if the flag is symbolic, or if it is a request for all airports but it doesn't appear that the Association has endorsed this. The flyer is making its way through FB.

It's a local initiative in DFW. Grown from grassroots and supported by Local 513.

Sidebar: Do most AA stations have a flag posted? PDX didn't, but MSP does. Just curious...
I believe that flag is flown by the DFW Airport board. The American flag and many others hang at the front entrance of the airport here in MIA.

Oh you will have your T/A....when you get your equity and pre funding. 1st Thursday of never.

Let's go Lombardo (and Association), it is past time to start putting pressure on the company in regards to negotiations.
Don't ask me what type of pressure, I pay you good money to figure that out. As a member I will follow the shots you call for, but putting pressure on the company is a "must" if we are going to get a decent contract anytime soon. I'm sick of the company controlling the pace of the negotiations by the lack of response to proposals the NC offers. The company just announced more boatloads of money and yet we sit on the outside looking in. What in the heck is going to be done about it? Stop letting AA dictate the pace of the negotiations and both the IAM and TWU need to start calling AA out. What's it gonna be, continue to follow AA, or you guys actually gonna start controlling the pace...Harry, what do you say??
