Update

All the back and forth on MX and Fleet coming out together with a TA will eventually be proven or not. What really matters right now is that Dougie has drawn a line in the sand. Dougie is saying goodbye to 17% of Fleet/MX jobs, goodbye to LUS insurance and goodbye to the LUS pension and here is a 401k plan that will allow the company to pocket even more money off our backs.

We have a choice, stick together or get pummeled. It's that simple. We will choose our outcome in the weeks ahead.

BTW you haven’t provided any information. All you have been doing is inserting your own speculations into the conversation. I’m actually continuing to wait patiently for that information I keep asking you to provide over and over and over and over and over and over?

Well? Where is it?

Not sure where you decide to disconnect but I'm not playing your "prove it" games. My points were shared, you obviously disagree.

Fine.

Aw darn it you already deleted that first part. Oh well.

And BTW asking for Documentation is not a game. It’s something I take VERY seriously.

Obviously proof is not a major concern of yours.

Carry on.

How many people are in fleet and MX each?

What does the company claim they will save move to a DC plan?

Kev3188,

17000 Fleet, 13000 MX. Roughly 5000 jobs will be cut. FYI, that's a minimum to cut, they want possible other cuts from their scope proposal of "when and where directed" work. Thousands of furloughs will come with the company offer if accepted even though they claim no furloughs.

The company is offering a 5% automatic 401k match and will match 4% if employees contribute 4%. The pocketing comes from the 4% but they charge us as if all employees put in 4% to be matched.

This is a pile of s**t offer. BTW, the company reads posts on social media and people that want to predict what will be voted in need to stfu and keep their predictions to themselves!

Thank you for the numbers! It’s definitely a terrible offer.

They didn’t site a specific $$ difference by shifting to a 401k? If they want to sell it you on the NC, they should.

BTW, every carrier reads these pages (and all social media). I say let ‘em.

From Fortune:

“Employees put a record average of $5,850 into their 401(k)s over the past 12 months from August 2017 back, a 4 percent increase from a year ago. Ninety-five percent of active employees contribute to their 401(k)s, and many defer enough of their pre-tax salary to get the average company match, which is 4.5 percent. But about 21 percent of employees can’t, or aren’t, contributing enough to get the full match. Many are likely to have been auto-enrolled into their 401(k) at a salary deferral rate of 3 percent, and left it there.”

I know you can't say this but the TWU got conned. As long as Alex sticks with the IAM....all good.
I really can't see why Parker would bother signing anything more than what he offered since there is otherwise nothing the union can do for the foreseeable 5 years other than just hold our position.
I'm fine with that but its pretty obvious the TWU got pulled with all this cuz their contract sucks donkey.
Parker got the deal of a lifetime by cuffing the TWU while he nabbed the cross utilization. Parker is good to go unless he feels he can squeeze more jobs. And that will depend upon the coalition breaking down or not. He has years to find out, if he even wants to bother.

It would be nice to get out of the iamnpf. A 401k with contributions of total compensation is much more costly for the company than only having to pay for the first 40 hours only.

Company and you already know the result of a TA if it comes out. It doesnt matter as long as you guys dont bring it out.
But where is the 17% job cut unless you are talking about mx?
Company only said catering and lavs, which is unwarranted, but not 17%.

The company prolly doesnt even bother to want a deal otherwise they would put sitos head in a vice and close down 5 twu stations and start deleting phl and clt work that isnt protected.

I just hope you guys have a solid exit plan and stick together if parker starts squeezing you guys.

Actually it’s Alex, Mike, Gary and both the Fleet and Maintenance TWU Negotiators who are sticking with the IAM just to clarify it for you.

And buddy I got no problem waiting some years. Just takes you longer to get that 401k Match you say you really need to “START” saving for your retirement.

My contract is fine with me right now.

So when did you become a Company actuary?

Kev are you also a Corporate actuary? Apparently we have 2 Corporate actuaries contributing to this thread.

And one we know doesn’t even work with us or should be a part of “OUR” economic discussions.

I have no problem with your position and I've told you that i appreciate Alex submitting to our iam favorable position.

But I dont want prez or any lus person to be overconfident by assuming if they allow any offer to be ta with a no recommendation that they have enuf juice that people will listen to them. The vast majority will vote this in. There arent more than 40 in ord that care about holding things up to fight for lus health. And there aren't more than 2 in ord out of 1500 that give a rats ass about clt catering.
