Just ask any old-timer from Legacy Piedmont Airlines what not having representation did for them just after USAir reamed their asses post merger...
Their answer will be the very reason we have the IAM to this very day-- The Company PROVED what being an "Employee at Will" actually means!

Actually, 6 months after we voted these jackasses in your idiots negotiated a ta that took us from $17.88 down to $16 something and wiped out shift trades and accepted pdos.....a concessionary pact to start the dues flow. It also wiped out catering and 90% of all stations. We had 2 asshat mx negotiating for us, bill friends get and your buddy tony D something. We threw eggs at friends get and i organized a picket at iam headquarters. Since then, the iam constructed a fence.
So spare me about life without this shiat union.
Oh yea, the mighty iam said we had to take a 8% pay cut due to the pilots. The stews said no as well so it never happened. Then in 98 the same bullshit and it didnt pass either after my campaign shut it down. Finally in 1999, we threw the mx negotiators out on their asses and we negotiated a much better contract that included catering and a 20% raise to $20.08. I still didn't like it cuz it wiped out 80 stations. We were much better with 95 stations as opposed to 15 or so but the hubs didnt care. Thats the story,
Dont let the facts get in your way!

I have an old friend who is a Jeblue manager I hope he asks me to speak in the break room it is morally the right thing to do

Job cuts at DL have been a near constant since the merger.

It was 5 days of sick time, not 10. I can also assure you that there wasn't much if any sick time abuse back then. I saw many that gave it a try, and were stopped dead in their tracks. I also knew of several people who were legitimately sick for a few weeks, and got paid for every hour of it. Sick time was there if you needed it.
As far as the "bogey numbers", they were given to both PI & US in any commonly staffed cities to guarantee no loss of extra wages following the merger. Given that there wasn't much OT on the PI side, the US guys made out far better on this deal.
That bogey stuff was dumb. I think empire would have been hosed if not for usair buying our airline. In early '87 i had a chance to go to sue but i hated those F28.

Dude... nice spin...

What part of my original post do you not understand? My point is this... WITHOUT the union representation decision, You, along with the rest of us would NOT even be here to even complain about the IAM, and this thread would not even exist! The company was well on it's way to not only contracting out catering, but baggage handling as a whole. This is the entire current work group that this thread is f-ing about! We realized that the represented groups on property were relatively safe from third party replacements, and the Fleet Service workforce knew this...

Incidentally, just because the first T/A sucked, doesn't mean the Membership was screwed. The Membership is the final factor with what is called a ratification vote. We did not vote in the first T/A, and all of us knew that WE were the Union, not the negotiation team! It later took bankruptcies to erode the progress we made. The very same bankruptcies you, and others still blame the union for, while allowing the Company a free pass! You are a Company man!

The job losses projected from the company's video are disturbing to say the least. Considering the compensation mgmt is getting, it is very hard to accept and makes you feel you are subsidizing mgmt. They need to get a lot more creative with a better offer. The jobs for money is just not good enough.

not good enough at all. they don't want to pay any of us and they want to take the ax to overhaul amt jobs. was it just over-the-top posturing or are they firm in being stingy?

we'll see when they pass back the comprehensive proposal. given what's happened recently:

- if the association gives us details of insulting offers and job cuts, then we'll have a problem.

- if the association tells us that some articles were improved/acceptable, but doesn't release actual numbers...then we can be a bit more upbeat on progress.

Nah, if the iam werent voted in we would still have a strong population on here. Guys from rap, film, lyn, etc. We lost alot when we voted in the iam. We had a much better retirement contribution, tons more work, zero health care expense, etc. We were lucky and had mergers. Prior to the American merger we were on our way to only a dozen stations. **** sick, **** vaca, **** holidays, nothing. Thats the truth. Look at the bullshit 2008 contract. And if parker didnt toss us $31 and profit sharing for free along with about $300 a year for triple play, bonus etc half of us would be on welfare cuz the iam sucks donkey and has done NOTHING.

Ian has done zero. Nothing. Even at united, sito put out a letter sayin the iam can do NOTHING. So he told United if they vote out their contract, the next one will be worse. We have monkeys and retards for us.

Nice to finally see the REAL Tim Nelson come out of the shadows.

It's good that Mark does that, keeps his members informed. But it does seem as though it's us vs them at times.
And although not intentional, that last update from Mark made it seem so even more. He is talking directly to his IAM members. This is by no means a slap on Mark, just the awkwardness of the Association.

AANOTOK I brought this over here cause sometimes the Mechanics get a little miffed when you talk Fleet issues on their thread.

I can see why with that proposal from the Company. It effects his Members in the negative way more than it effects us.

Huh? The iam has sucked since we have had them. Nothing new with me other than I've been working to keep the shell, at this time. Previously, i worked to get them the hell out. We lost everything with the iam and thankfully this merger and the twu standing down got us a better c ok ntract. And im glad that Alex agreed to take a submissive role to sito so we can kick the can down the road.

So you hate Sito. You expect him 100% to screw you but you’re glad that Alex is in your mind standing down to let Sito keep the lead?

WTF are you talking about Sybil?

BTW in case you aren’t (you’re not) smart enough to figure it out. Higher Job loss is on the Maintenance side of the TWU so TWU is the point man on that.

And not to defend a guy who could honestly crush you like a grape but I don’t see Alex as being submissive to anyone. I think he’s around 6’4 or maybe even 6’5.

Submissive is the guy who ain’t got the cajones to fly to CLT.

Weez 17 years ago today LLCers graced AA property for first time.

What does the IAM have in store for us on 4/10/18?

Josh

You need to reread Mr basketts update. He says sito is the Chief Negotiator.
Alex is submissive to sito. Not sure what his height has to do with anything as I'm not sure if alex is submissive to sito in other ways but that may be your concern, not mine. Sorry.
