Is USAirways hostile takeover Of AA for Real?

Not really there WT. Neither 700 or the Bull are with the company any longer. Furthermore, they are not current union leaders either.
While both of them are knowledgeable folks, they are both living in and refering to the past. The Bull is looking out for the AFA leadership, and the dues income they stand to lose should this merger take place.

Perhaps this little US-labor leader focused discussion is indicative of the difficulties that would be involved in another US merger, let alone one that involves yet another airline with its own strong-minded labor leaders?

Not at all.

Pitbull was the most respected and effective labor leader at US Airways but has been off the property since 2005 and will have zero effect on any integration of labor. She has been relatively quiet on US issues on this board, with only an occasional post the last several years until this latest flurry recently.

700UW was never a labor "leader", although he paints a somewhat revisionist history version of his own importance, contribution, and impact (and departure)... he's been gone for years but never left the message boards.

I will always respect Pitbull for her tenacity and passion over the years, and for the most part I agree with her warnings regarding US management. I'm a bit puzzled by her latest campaign but I suspect it has more to do with preserving the (cwa)/AFA than her former coworkers.

I would prefer this potential merger not happen, but when I try to be impartial and look at the long term economic realities of the business... I think it will occur, one way or another.

So these two individuals have zero impact on any labor issues today and in the future, but I understand you grasp at anything to denigrate US Airways and you fear a combined US/AA.

Lets see, I was the RS of 1725, before that a trustee, been on the e-board, thats a leadership roles, Editor, District 142 Communicator, NC member, shop steward, various committee memberships and organizing.

Attended all the leadership classes that Placid Harbor had to offer.

The issue is the merger or potential of it, its not about Pitbull or myself.

You havent had a new agreement in seven years and Doug went behind your backs and has an LOA with the three major unions at AA.

Focus your anger at Doug, not Pitbull.

And no where did she say she wanted a chapter 7 and if you have looked at US' financials there is no danger of that happening at the moment or the near future.

Doug has completed a merger seven years after and you support him in a new one?
From pit bull

What monies do you think US Airways is going to pay for the third largest carrier, pray tell??? Huh?????  Labor has had nothing but living under concessionary contracts...AND DON'T SAY I BROUGHT THAT IN CAUSE THEN YOUR A LIAR!  I WAS OPPOSED TO EVERY CONTRACT...AND WOULD RATHER HAVE  THE AIRLINE LIQUIDATE, SPECIFICALLY AFTER THE SECOND BK, REDONE, REWORKED SO CALLED BUSINESS PLAN...NOTHING BUT COST SAVINGS FROM THE EMPLOYEES...AND THEY STILL CAN'T MAKE IT WORK AFTER 7 DAMN YEARS, AND THAT'S WITH TRYING TO MERGE A REGIONAL CARRIER LIKE AMERICA WEST, FOR PETE'S SAKE!!!!

This is where she said it .

About an event that happened seven years ago, she didnt say it about today's US.

And you did ignore that this merger is seven years old you dont have a new CBA, but Doug pulled an end around and made agreements with AA's unions in a matter of months.

Don't you think he needs to get his own house in order before another merger since this one isnt complete?

USAPA has a seniority issue. Afa had a T/A and was turned down . Did you see it in its entirety ? Not what we all wanted but industry standard in some areas and industry leading in others. Also had scope pertections for our west f/a's. The majority turned it down and we are hoping for better. It was far better than what AA signed on for with Parker. We are in negotiations now ...here's hoping. Her post are just beyond ...so have her back and relive the past. This is about our future, for the ones that work here.

I am always looking out for ALL of US Airways employees..always have; always will!

I have a definite dog in this contention; U pulling AA into a consolidation, hostile, no less, to steal from their company, and their labor groups by promising them nothing but disingenuous crap; ignoring the US Airways labor groups as if they don't matter, didn't contribute all these years to make THEIR company profitable. US Airways employees still remain invisible to the U managment in place.. and this quite frankly sickens me to no end in sight.

I am waiting for YOUR management team to do the right thing for ONCE in THEIR careers, good will and ethical practice for Pete's sake, negotiate with THEIR own unions, give them their contract that they have been seeking for years; Reward them, and US Airways will prosper tenfold... and unite the labor force.

Allow AA to have their exclusivity to restructure their company, negotiate with THEIR employees, just as US Airways did twice with no interference from anyone.

And those who are in the know, or who have been in the know, 700UW was at the table in negotiations for weeks and weeks, in BK II, with his group while both our groups battled daily in different rooms at Corporate, with the GD U management. He fought damn hard as hell.

He deserves that respect.

Only those imposter posters on here, that are management, wouldn't know what the hell "respect" for the fight is all about, now would ya?

Sorry Wings, appears I repeated some of what you posted, I was typing and away from keyboard a few minutes and didn't see your post till after mine had posted.
No problem, you are spot on with your post and added a lot of in depth info. I don't know much about 700 or his past other than what he has posted here. While he has been a consistent poster over the years, the bull hasn't.
This only clarifies her campaign agenda for the AFA.
I would like to hear her thoughts on where US and its employees will be years from now without this deal. I think that we will hang around, but increased revenue and marketshare won't happen. Without that I don't see a bright outlook for labor at US in the way of better pay and benefits. Most of the level headed pro-merger people are looking at the long term ramifications that this merger with bring to BOTH employee groups.

Not making anything up it was your post not mine. Hope you don't implode when this merger happens. My fellow F/A' s at AA and other are looking forward to it.

Bull, if you are so concerned about the employees of US, what is there long term outlook without this merger? Sure they will still hang around, and your AFA cronies will keep their dues flowing for a bit longer. Did you ever stop to consider that Parkers offer to AA labor will cover everyone if a merger is completed? At this point winning AA labor over is a must when it comes to the BK process, and he has been focused on that. Sure we would all love for him to strike sweet deals with our unions that will bring us a big fat raise, but as a standalone that ain't gonna happen.
