^But again, where does CRM come into play when you change pilots so many times in a day that you can't remember the names of who is actually flying the bloody plane? I'm all for saving money and not sitting around waiting, but I like having a briefing at the beginning of a trip with an entire crew. I like knowing what I can expect from them and what they can expect from me. I also like knowing who to avoid when bidding a trip...on both sides of the cockpit door.

I like all of that, too.
At HP, CRM comes into play once a year in recurrent, as mandated by FAA.
Unless they (FAA) will subsidize the loss of cost savings, or require crews remain together, HP will continue to do what costs the least.

Which brings us to Coke vs Pepsi.
Which distributor will offer the best deal? That is who we will go with.

I say if we're going cheap on CRM, then let's serve RC Cola and moon pies. To hell with Coke or Pepsi.

Do tell... <ahem> sorry, got lost in the vision of nice legs. We'll make it Diet RC then. I must insist on full-calorie moon pies, though.

See, now, if you were an HP pilot you would be VERY afraid to talk to FA like that on the a/c, for fear they would write you up.
Me, I'm old-school, I eat that chit up. We would have fun!

Trying flying into Texas without Coke product it is hillarious!!!

That's putting it mildly! You know, Pepsi is headquartered in Dallas, and since we do more corporate business with Pepsi than with Coke, management at AA had the idea to increase Pepsi products and decrease Coke products in the catering insert. We offer both, but there had always been more Coke than Pepsi and we had Sprite instead of Sierra Mist. We decreased Coke and Diet Coke and increased Pepsi and Diet Pepsi. That did not last very long at all.

One interesting thing, though. We are still catering Sierra Mist and Sierra Mist Free instead of Sprite and Diet Sprite, and most customers who ask for Sprite don't seem to mind. I tried the Diet Sierra Mist and it's pretty good.

HUH? I just checked, and Pepsi is still headquartered in Purchase, NY. Unlike AA, which moved from NY to TX, Pepsi has not followed. :D

I thought AA added Pepsi a few years ago (and then recently trimmed the Coke selections) due to excessive drug use at HQ, since Coke is clearly the favorite carbonated beverage brand in the USA (among people with money to spend). :D

Well, that's like saying that Texaco was headquartered at White Plains, NY when I worked for them. Out of 67,000 employees, less than 1,000 worked at "headquarters"--which was actually just the executive offices. The real "operational" headquarters was in Houston. All the operating departments, plus the corporate departments--such as, Information Technology, Controllers, etc--were in Houston.

In any case, COKE RULES

I am sure you are however, I know AWA is not experienced in flying over 380 daily departures out of PHL in mid January. With over 120,000+ bookings for any given day. Its a bloody nightmare. You need nerves of steel not to mention patience. My only point is you seperate the flt crew from the f/a's you will never find a whole crew to get anything operational. If push comes to shove scheduling can always split the f/a's or the pilots onto any other trip to get a flt out. That usually doesnt happen to often. They do like to keep the entire crew together. I certainly never meant to offend with my earlier post.

Once again... Most of the employees at AWA worked at other Airlines and have that experience. Myself being on airline #3... it's all pretty much the same. Different lingo, different perspectives, but in the end the big differences really aren't all that big.

UA serves that swill known as "Pepsi", so when I fly UA, I ask for orange juice instead. It costs them more, but I guess they will make up for it in volume with the exclusive Pepsi contract.

On Delta, I usually ask for Coke, since it's actually drinkable.

Majority of male HP pilots will not give female F/A's a "hand" when getting out of hotel vans, and certainly not "check" their hotel rooms (when we do happen to end up at the same hotel) in fear of the harassment write ups. I think male US pilots were starting to worry about helping female F/A's out of vans starting about 5 years ago, but not checking their rooms. Too bad we have to worry about getting written up at work, but I guess the few bad seeds out there starts the trend.

At US, the F/O generally signs everybody in at the hotel. At HP, you are on your own!

If we have men that dont help us out of the van, oh man are they gonna hear about that! <laughing> On a serious note, I dont believe US pilots are afraid to help a lady out of a hotel van. The majority of them are old schooled, considering we have no pilots under 40 yrs old, and we (f/a's) have trained them well. They do help us out of hotel vans, sign us in at the hotels, as far as checking our rooms they will stand in the hall in front of the door while we go in, you will come across some that will go in and check, leave you in the hall. Believe it or not, more then ya think still pick up the tab for dinner! They are truly old schooled! We love them!
