IBT/UAL contract rejection, what does it mean to us at AA?

You could never be so knowledgeable, and educated.
You are not educated, you are indoctrinated....

But actually quite knowledgeable

OK people, let me intervene for just a minute on UAL.

There was nothing forcing the IBT to bring this garbage back to the membership! Call it what you will, last and final or a TA, the IBT brought it back to shove their teamster medical plan ( Teamcare ) and this bull prefund VEBA that you AA guys just got robbed out of down our throats.

Even though the entire contract was concessionary and not up to par for all that we gave up, the overwhelming majority had more of an issue over teamcare and the VEBA than anything else.

The 93% NO was just as much for the IBT as it was for UAL.

I hate to say it Whoop, but, don't be surprised when the teamsters/ibt get the Teamcare and VEBA forced into the contract with a deal done behind closed doors just like they did in a little hotel room and made changes to the contract at SWA. And yes it is fact and proven that this was done as well as admitted to by some in the teamsters nego team.  The teamsters should not have even brought this contract to a vote, but, now that they did, they better get certain items out of the offer and increases in other areas to get a good contract. Let's all see if the teamsters will listen to the membership.

Thank you for confirming whoop:
Union Hacks is entirely accurate in this case.

This point needs to be made because we are facing potentially the same thing right here at AA with the IAM in control of the JCBA .

Right now is when our union leadership needs to hear from the membership as they are at the table.
They need to know, we won't accept the IAMNPF without an opt out for anyone that wants to instead go with a 401k with a contribution/match in line with at least what the FA's got.

SWAMT, I know all about what happened with you guys and the ibt. Sadly, the same guy is the head of our negotiations. We are also fully aware the ibt will try to hide teamcare in the contract someplace. We have all of our eyes opened.

All they need to do, is keep sUAL health care, give us UPS +. They will get the same turnout, but in the yes column.

I LOVE the APFA language for the 401k match. The only problem with it though is it has a drop dead date of December 31, 2018 and then all revert back to a 5.5% match.

I'd like to see our guys negotiate and secure that 401k tiered (by age) match for the entire membership without the drop dead date.

That would be my personal 1st "choice"

SWA Fleet just secured an over 9% match starting in 2019. There isn't much of a difference between any of the 4 Major airlines these days IMO and if they can negotiate that item I see no reason why we can't either.
