Mechanic and Related halting talks had NOTHING to do with Fleet voting down their T/A, read below:

Update

Talks were stopped on September 7, Fleet voted down their T/A 10 days later on the 17th.

By the way there are more non-maintenance airline workers in the Air Transport Division of the IAM than Mechanics.

Don't let the facts get in your way.

OK IBEW,

What is your official relationship with the 'ibew committee'?

Why won't you admit their existence?

Is a 'there' prez some one who is with it?

What does union bashing have to do with solidarity?
This isn't about union bashing. As Freedom said, the fight is with the company. The IBEW campaign is about fighting the company and adding to the current contract. The IAM has chosen not to fight over the last 13 years, including the last concessions in midst of Billion dollar profits, so fleet service has no choice in the matter and has to get the IAM if it wants to fight. How can the IAM fight when the lead negotiator is a United Airline Board of Director?

The IAM is a very good union at Boeing, and is good at United where it fights. At US AIRWAYS fleet it is awful and has no fight in it.

regards,

Do you really think changing unions will change the company's position on negotiations?

Look at UA, NW and WN, nothing changed when they changed unions, in fact if you look at NW, AMFA got their rear ends handed to them on a silver platter and took tremendous concessions and loss of jobs.

The IBEW will not be able to accomplish anything differant than any other union in the airline industry.

700 "Wrong, the IAM M&R at US has never reached a tranistion agreement with the company and there was never a vote.

The 142 Leadership is steadfast in winning the COC for the membership and the company wants to outsource more work, therefore a T/A was never reached. "

What makes them so sure they will win. Isn't that what the IAM said to us? If we are all so wrong why is it that the mechanics want tohave the COC also. Could it be that it is has a very good chance to winning? Why would the IAM want us to get rid of the COC and have continued to go around and suggest that we vote our selves out of the COC? could it be Randy and his croonies are trying to set things up for a united merger? The truth is the IAM is trying to sell us down the river for peanuts! We deserve better!!! Sign IBEW cards and FORCE the IAM and the company to change! why was it not in the IAM messenger that the Mechanics were holding out for the COC?

First of all ask Canale about his stance on the COC.

Second it is not in The Messenger because it is a publication of District 141, not District 142, the M&R are part of District 142, not 141.

I am sure of a win because of the facts of the case, just as I was in the Airbus Outsourcing, the facts speak for themself.

142 is seeking to correct what US did to the M&R group during the last bankruptcy.

Let the IAM, the
Cananles' and Brickners of the world fight for thier M&R....to them we've always been
''scabs''.
I was present in that meeting when our IAM leadership referred to the
fleet service as ''scabs'' for crossing thier line back in 92' and that thought process
has never changed. It's called revenge. Canale has taken it out on us from the
get go. Also Al Crelin use to and probably still does take his anger out on Phl for walking
out on thier company back in the late 80's....Canale and Crelin, one and the same, it's all
about screwing the fleet and revenge.....it's best served cold !
Thanks

Funny you mention 92' line crossing "scabs". The CLT newly appointed AGC was one of those line crossers. He worked third shift helping "maintain" for the company. But, he did negotiate that sweet lol TA and agreed to give up his fellow fleet by peddling the unions koolaid. Its funny how there wasn't a position open,
but with enough shifting around of areas, cha ching$$$

700 You can do better than that when AMFA was doing the raid the avaition industry was on the brink! The difference is USAirways is on its way to make almost a billion dollars! The time for change is here! For all of you guys that are saying that you will loose your contract if the IBEW gets on the property,Don't you think the pilots have an even better grasp of the situation than we do? Do you think they didn't have all kinds of lawyers looking at this to see if they would loose more by changing? We need to stop selling our selves short we can change and make things better. The worst you can do is be stuck with the contract you have for another year. The IBEW will want to start right away with negs.

By the way if you are a committe man for the IAM, just represent the people like you are supposed to and don't get tied up in this drive. If you do right by the people then when THE IBEW gets on the property you will be remmembered by the group you protected. Let the IAM lackeys get blisters by posting all the lies! Make them earn the 100,000 plus salaries by doing the work they should have done all along. If you push the IAM and are not doing a good job for the people I assure you that you will not carry a vote. Not because the IBEW will oust you but your own people will. 8 for 8. Work for the people! We will not as the IBEW stand for giving positions to guys that are yes men. The election process is the only way for the people to have a true voice!

The funny thing is they are going to let you take the falls when their lies are found out!

Wrong once again,

NW, UA and WN were making profits when they were succesful in raiding the M&R groups at those companies.

Last time I checked anyone can post on this board, if you dont like my posts dont read them or use the ignore feature.

IMO, the fleet had to come to work as they were non-union, they were not scabs.

SCABS SELF CENTERED AGAINST the BROTHERHOOD! If you were forced by the company to work the positions you had no choice. If you took overtime in anyform, you are a SCAB! I for one will tell you that I don't throw that term around like the IAM leadership did in PHL some years ago. However if you took the overtime to work a mechanics function while they were on strike you should not be a card member! Working strike work for your own gain is very wrong! I know about this person and I can only say if he did, he will have to live with the fact that he chose himself over the group. His time will come!

There were those of us who refused to work on equipment and called in sick to help the cause. And you are right, we were not scabs. You yourself know about the scab list, and I'm sure you heard first hand the scab name calling and hard feelings given. perserverance was making a point that solidarity promised when we voted the IAMAW in is no longer evident. We seem to be the expendable workers they can shed to allow for a windfall for maintenance. We don't want to be another "Utility".

AMFA was certified at Northwest Airlines on June 1, 1999, and the Association currently represents approximately 950 mechanics and related employees that maintain the airlines fleet of DC-9s, B757s, B747s, A320s and A330s. The current contract becomes amendable on December 31, 2011.

They lost several thousand jobs during the strike.

AMFA was certified at United Airlines on July 15, 2003, and the Association currently represents approximately 5,600 members who maintain the airlines fleet of B737s, B757s, B747s, B777s, and A320s aircraft. The current contract becomes amendable December 31, 2009.

AMFA was certified at Southwest Airlines on January 27, 2003, and the Association currently represents approximately 1900 members who maintain the airlines fleet of B737 aircraft. The current contracts become amendable August 16, 2008 for the Aircraft Maintenance Technicians and February 16, 2009 for the Appearance Technicians.

I never called ramp or csa scabs, but I do remember the anger and harrasment buy them during the 30 day cooling off period and strike. In fact many of them gave us information on what was going on, I was dating a CSA during the strike and many of our members were married or dating fleet and csa.

They just did not understand the situation.

OK now we know the dates I guess. So why did NW and UA want to get rid of the IAM? Are they all wrong also? Thanks for proving the point that the IAM can't keep members. Let me quess you are going to say they were wrong and the IAM was right again!
