IAM Transition Proposal

Tim,

What did you want to see in the transition agreement?

I'll answer that, HIRE DATE SENIORITY, for everyone, for everything. That way no one loses anything, you go where your hire date dictates. No more junior agents ahead of senior agents. Hire date is going to come in very handy if there is ever another merger. Remember, you read it here first.

Next would be equal pay for equal work. No one should be paid more than their counterparts just because they work in a hub. Be fair to everyone, and the bottom line will show it.

Next if you call in sick, and have days on the books we should get full pay for each day. They were earned at full pay, we should be able to use them at full pay.

yes that is very true barbee. I only wish that they would have addressed the issue. but the only thing they will do is raise the dues as usual

It seems that most here are overlooking the "BIG" factor, and that is the outsourcing language. This alone should be the numero uno concern of just about everyone. Once all of the outstations are contracted out, there will be a many that will come to the class 1 stations to keep their jobs.
There are many other items that are not addressed here as well, such as the loss of double time, the 1/2 pay for sick days, etc. I am fully aware of the promised IAM industry leading pension plan, but as I have said before..
You must still have a job to be part of it.

Remember that this is not a FINAL TRANSITION as was the company's version they gave tothe IAM. What this means is that between now and 01/07 when the full integration takes place and the two groups are fully integrated under 1 contract the two sides can and will be able to make amendments to this agreement, such as adding the outsourcing language or sick time language.

I know this all can be a bit confusing, but we all must remember that it is Doug Parker and management that talk all the talk about how much the employees mean to the success of the company and then when it comes time for us to get even a tid-bit of a reward for all we have sacraficed over the years, the management kralls back in their cave and won't budge and inch to give anything back. At the same time the reports of a select few management cronnies cashing in with huge windfalls continue it seems every week.

So we all must remember who we are dealing with. This management continues to reward the ones who deserve the least and completely disregard the ones who deserve the most.

They have certainly missed out on all of those factors and seem to be heading down the path of least resistance. Doesn't seem to be much fight in this dog.

Based on past practice, the IAM tends to take whatever the company dictates.....or offers without much if any resistance. I would be willing to bet there will be very few, if any changes to what is now on the table.
Remember, it is all about dues and nothing more. Even after most of the West stations are outsourced, the IAM will have as many members at the merged Airline as it did before it lost the 20+ east station members to outsourcing.

When all is said and done, they will either declare "Victory!" or say they "had a knife to our back and a gun to our head".

US Airways employees who have
accepted work with America West / US Airways under these provisions or who have
been recalled to US Airways after being on layoff for 60 days or more and are
currently active.

A little help here please. What exactly is "currently active" Having been one of the sacrificial lambs during the 2005 outsourcing, does this mean:

1. Go to a hub before the transitional date at starting wages hoping for a wage snap back?

2. Or I'm missing something and the company is actually proposing to take back the furloughes at their accrued pay seniority.

Thanks...JR

Our steward told us that if you go back this agreement would allow you to go back at the accrued rate. If you choose to go back to a West city you would get there top rate if you have 10 or more years and than get the IAM rate onece the aggrement is final.
I also dont think this is the final proposal from the IAM
This was just step 1. Remember C/S took 5 months to get a deal
and we still have the snap back issiue out there. Thats why C/S got what they did was because of that.
I for one will be the first to complainet if we dont see an improvment and to get rid of the 2 tier pay as well as the sick policy.
I also have a question for the Westies. What stations are you talking about that may or may not get outsorced?

If that is the case, I'm certain that many on furlough will consider coming back to work in another station for
top rate of pay if they were at that point before being furloughed.
As far as the outsourcing of the West stations, it would be as widespread as it was in the east. This would likely eliminate 3/4 of the current west stations if they use the same guidlines as they did in the east. Based on what has been posted here, only a handful of west stations would survive.
