I need some help, I'm getting ready to go on vacation and thought I would check the union web site, I read the update and don't understand it. Do we have a tentative, or just a proposal? are there anymore meeting scheduled? I would like to know before I leave town. If anyone knows please let me know since I haven't been at work for a while-thanks Ed

The company presented the union with a proposal, there is no T/A and the NC along with the advisors are evaulating it.

Mark my words, it is an agreement. Hopefully ALL the info will be given to the membership by the weeks end to begin evaluating it. This delay in info is once again pissing everyone off.

I would caution not to just say I'm voting no, without taking the time to even look at what is offered.
Then again you can follow your coworker with the biggest mouth and do what he tells you to do, hell maybe he will even give you an amfa card to sign.

I for one am going to wait and see if I can live with it.

If it was an agreement, the IAM would have said so.

It can turn into one.

Here's an example of what happens when we let the IAM handle our money. ie: PROFIT SHARING Profit sharing is in the EAST contract not the WEST. The IAM decided to share our EAST allotment with the WEST. They, the IAM, also decided that profit sharing would be based on W2 earnings. The WEST contract has a higher hourly pay rate than the EAST. The average WEST employee grosses more than the EAST. The WEST will get larger profit sharing checks than the EAST and it's not even in their contract! It's not personal, it's business. Just say NO THANKS to the IAM pension plan.

It has been proven that Higginbotham can wake up one day and, out of the goodness of his heart, decide that the Pilots or F/A's or CSA's or contract mechanics in Mobile or Georgia really deserve two dollars more an hour. And then he can, all by himself, take it out of USAirways east mechanics paychecks and give it to them. And the company, of all people, will go along with him. Hey, those gals in Manila could use a couple of weeks vacation, too.
It happened once. It could easily happen again. Now I live in fear my own union could give away my pay and benifits at any time. And the company will go along with it. If that's not a hostile work environment I don't know what is.

Tom is a good union person, he wouldnt sell out the AMTs.

And I guess you forgot the company had the chapter 11 gun to the membership's head and the judge abrogated and the membership ratified the final offer.

The NC never reached an agreement with US during the last bankruptcy, I know I was there at CCY on the NC.

bird feathers,
your thinking is wrong. IF there is a significant change to the contract or they want to extend it ..THERE has to be

a vote. If they want to just slot the west in then NO . But I highly doubt that would even be a consideration.

Word is that this will be proposed to the members.....calls from the union saying there will be station visits (to sell it no doubt).

So speaks the little birdy.....

The gun was held to the wrong head....The company threatens chapter 11, the judges voids???? and the members agree to the 'unagreement' of a final offer....nice.

Time is needed to put the spin on it so the membership will buy into it.

seems almost condescending, thanks for the advice, spoken like a company/union lackey.

go back and tell your company/union superior you done your best

Who's the one who said 10% up front on this thread?

Same company offer before the CIC went to arbitration in Sept.....reworded, repainted so it looks better (like our planes) but the same ole' offer. The company believes from the bottom of their stone heart that we should lower our expectations....

Must have missed it, care to elaborate?

Never met Tom.

How can we ever forget, "chapter 11 gun to the membership's head and the judge abrogated and the membership ratified the final offer.", despite "industry leading contract", "scope", "strength in numbers"?

Since the NC never reached and agreement with US (they couldn't do thier job), why don't they return thier paychecks for that period? Were they not paid to negociate and return to the membership with advice be it yes/no?

Why is it always the judge, company, or the membership?

Like a previous poster brought up "COST NEUTRAL", same pieces just reshuffled.
If you gained someone lost, if you lost someone gained.

We have a contract enforce it, bring home the outsorced work. And have the company compensate the membership for the past 2.5 yrs of outsourcing.
