While the M & R group may be close to a transition, it would be a huge mistake for fleet to assume that it will get the same. You still haven't answered my question, how long has fleet service east and west been IAM members? How many jobs are you willing to lose if you want $20? What benefit do you want to forfeit to get full sick pay?
You should not expect that you will draw even with our M & R members who have had years and years of negotiated contracts. How many contracts have you ratified? How many strikes have you had?
Our union is democratic and allows dissent but if you disagree with me then position yourselves in 2009 and don't continue to hold our members in PHX hostage due to political gain

As a tech I just want to say no work group should settle for anything less that full pay when you use your earned sick time! do you think any real company that takes care of their people would even think of asking this! we should not have any less benefits than any other work group! If our ceo and his buddies can be making one of the highest pay packages in the airline ind. why should we expect less. I would hope that the IAM doesn't sell us out and settle for any crap the company throws out. This is the new thread. Folks remember no personal attacks & stay on tpoic.
While I don't disagree it is a good source of information it just goes to show how unaware the IAM is once again. Not sure the date of the video but I find it interesting that all the airlines they mention in the video are all represented by someone other than the IAM. America West is now US Airways which they failed to mention and isn't it funny how they left out the old US Airways and all the work they outsourced under the IAM's watch. Eventually the mechanics at US Airways will realize what the mechanics at every other major airline have and dump the IAM like those guys have done. Every mechanic at U should be asking themselves do I want a SCAB union to represent me the answer should be a resounding NO!HP outsources 72% of their maintenance, check out this video.
Outsourcing
Shows info on the Air Midwest Crash.
Features US AMT Dave Supplee, head of flight safety for the IAM at US and John Goglia, former US AMT and NTSB Board Member.
Good info.

"This review will be completed in the very near future at which time further information will be provided." FURTHER information would imply that initial information was provided! We are very much in the dark. Any guess's? You know what mine is, that dam IAM pension. Isn't this suppose to be a simple transition agreement? What the deuce is going on? If nobody knows, just make something up, it's all in good fun at this point.
I think you are giving our commitee and the IAM to much credit on that proposal cut it in half and I think you will be closer to the real deal! You might get 5% up front and extend the contract out to 2013 with 3% a year you won't get anymore premium raises, till you get a new contract in say 2017. You won't get any 401 match from the company if they go with the IAM pension plan. Parkers got the money and he's not letting it go, not while he has a chance to make the share holders happy and continue to keep him in bonuses. Sorry for the dark out look but I've been down this road before and I know the IAM track record in this area, if they send it to a vote and it doesn't pass it will be just like the old US BK contract, the IAM will come out to tell you that this is the best deal to be had and that you should rethink your position and then put it to a revote! Then about a month after all the dust clears Doug, Frank S., Tom H., Al H.,will all get tegether for a private golf game and party and rejoice over how they screwed us over once again!
YOU CAN TAKE THE IAM PENSION AND STICK IT. If you are close to retirement the 401k is better for you that the IAM pension plan. Whoopdedo I have 20 years with AWA and the IAM will give me only the time from when "IF EVER " the IAM pension plan go in to effect.I think the outcome will test the solidarity of the M & R. I'm ignornat on any solidarity between the rank and file of various stations within this craft. I'd say the committee is doing the math on the IAM pension plan right now since it was the IAM"s number 1 target to preserve its membership. Don't get me wrong, the IAM pension, depending on what the company's contribution rate is, may be a better retirement than the current contribution rates.
At this point, if not before, I think it is critical that a network of stations made up of the masses, as opposed to Local Chairman, join together. Most LC are right up the union's rear and have 'kissed the pinky' of the District.
I doubt the M & R get what they deserve so the question will be how solid is this craft in standing together? I'm weary of DL142 top expert numbers guy, "Tommy Reagonomics". He tried doing the math on some fleet items and I had to correct alot of his bull over on the fleet side. His math leaves alot to be desired.
