Just happened to look at an email announcing an agreement between the IAM and BA after three years of negotiations....the highlight sheet looked worse than the garbage they are recommending to the membership of U!!!  The IAM is getting pretty good at negotiating concessionary contracts!!!
Do you have a link pls???

I assume you know this but for those that don't, any increase in pay will cause a increase in your dues.

By your statement you don't seem happy with the IAM T/A, how much more of this are you willing to take from the IAM?  We want the TWU gone as well, for all of the concessionary contracts.

Sign an AMFA card today and lets put an END to the Association.

The meeting schedule in LGA and ORD doesn't seem to meet up with midnight shift at all. The rest seem to have it covered.

LOL, We were told today that the vote in CLT would be on a Friday when over a 1/3 of the people will be off in the hanger. No absentee ballots. You have to come in on your day off to vote.  Why not have the vote go all week or better yet vote from home on the computer. Is it not the year 2014. Jeeeez!

You guys are voting on a contract at work? Did I miss something? NMB conducts votes over the internet or phone and in some cases by mail. I would think that the IAM would do the same. The TWU did although we questioned the results with no closure.
Is the full T/A out yet?

I was talking with a few of your fellow mechanics on Wednesday, they believe that the IAM is doing this on purpose to swing the vote. I wouldn't put it past them to insure that the "YES" voters will be able to be there. The TWU here at AA does the same type of things.

I was also told that the full T/A would be available to you guys and the shop stewards
this week. Please insure ALL of YOU read and ask question about it? Don't VOTE BLIND>>> A few dollars now to have our class and craft hurt in the future is NOT worth it.

Can you or some one else who reads this board put the Negatives from this agreement up for us to see since the Highlight sheet was put up by your favorite IAM supporter.

I was also told that Maint. didnot get a bump in the IAM pension but the ramp did? (WHY)?
Now why would the union which represents all, give to one group and not the rest?

It was also mentioned that USAirway's want to have the new hires have a 10yr progression to TOP out. We as mechanics CAN'T let that happen. Start then have TWO contracts go by before you top out. Don't let that happen there it will give them leverage to attempt it here at AA. Isn't time we stop the concessions?

If you are NOT happy with that there are guys at USAirway's collecting cards for AMFA since we believe that the NMB is going to consider us as one. USAirway's signed IBT cards last yr. Hoping to get the IAM to get something for you, Have they?

AMFA at the NEW AA 2014
Usair already has a 10 year progression (actually 9 year, 10 step). I don't think they got rid of it in this TA. I'm sure they'll try to bring this to your JCBA. I've heard rumors that they even want that at WN, and that will automatically make me vote no- 5 years is long, 10 is completely absurd.

Looks like ramp did better than MX this time.  Not that the ramp contract is great, but at least we didn't get as hosed as MX.

I predict the US Airways AMT's will vote yes, and wont have the motivation to support an AMFA drive. The AMT's there have been beaten into submission and the IAM has brainwashed them. Its the equivalent of being locked in cage for 20 yrs, and beaten by your master. Pretty soon this is all you know, and you convince yourself that things cant get any better.
Hey Cat, your perception is spot on. It is not isolated solely to US though. UA, US, AA, DL, SW or any other, if you have the discussion with a Mechanic as to why the individual is pissed-off, the reasons are many. As an organizor for cards at AA I've probably heard them all. But what seems to be overlooked is what I call the common denominator. We need to go back to that point in our lives and remember the decision we made to pursue a career in Aircraft Maintenance. The efforts and sacrifices we and loved ones expended and the pride we felt when we followed through and were able to make opportunities available to us. It's our Profession that we need rally around and although some will spin it as elitist, too damn bad. Even as the demographics of our ages make it easier to disengage, the least we can do is to continue to stay in the fight for those that follow.

"If it passes" and then you believe a card is worth signing, Don't you think it mighy be a little too late? Wait 3,4 5 or more years before you have the ability to fix things? Some folks seem to be uncertain as to whether AMFA is the solution. Here at AA we attempted to rally behind forming our own Union in 2011 and 2012. Many were insecure as to if we could pull that off. I believe they were wrong... water under the bridge. The focus need be to ****-can these Industrial Unions that have destroyed our Craft, most often now we're labeled 'ground worker' rather than Aircraft Mechanics, and provide ourselves a support system that will allow us to pursue a more positive path going forward. We believe a Craft Union will give us that opportunity, now.

"Our union, the IAM, holds a pension plan as a sacred, sacred benefit," Buffenbarger said. "We do not give it up without a fight. We do not sacrifice the unborn on the altar of corporate profits."
In the Puget Sound, Buffenbarger has forced the upcoming contract vote despite the objection of local union leaders who believe the contract involves too many concessions, particularly because of its shift away from pensions at a time when Chicago-based Boeing is profitable.

The pension issue is absolutely a hot button issue. As many are aware, this POS T/A about to be voted on is no more than a bridge contract until a single CBA can be negotiated with the Company. AT AA years ago we were told our pension was sacred until they found the reason to freeze it. (not the same as lost it) The truth is corporate America has changed the game regarding pensions and you can bet that most corps will go that route if given the opportunity. Unfortunately, some corporations still hold true to the promise made to workers but not so many in our industry.
I believe a good comparison would be as to what AMFA has provided for their members. The present SWA contract provides, not a pension but a contribution of a 7.3% match to a 401k with an adjustment of 9.3%.

I believe this blows the IAM pension out of the water. Many prefer this to the pension style of retirement for numerous reasons:
1. Portability, leave the company, take it to your next employer
2. you determine how the moneys grow
3. tax savings of pre-tax earnings
4. no funding concerns of the employer now or in the future.

Make an informed decision. Best of luck.

Does this T.A. do away with DAT days?  AA took away our P.V. days which is essentially the same thing with another name..
