Then the long term viability of this airline is VERY important to you. Here's to insuring we turn this ship around so that we can pay that retirement check and retiree medical you've worked all these years to earn

Can any pilots and f/a's tell me if your total percentage cut is
totally restored at the end of your new erp's ? I have heard that for
both groups the total percentage is restored at the end of your new
contract's.I have been asking around about how people feel about the
new deal and one of the big things mechanics say is we are still
not fully restored to what we would have been making had there not
been this new erp. Also people are questioning why we need to give
UAL such a long contract.Aviation is cyclical and we may be making
profits lets say in a year or year in a half. Why not a shorter contract
and if UAL is profitable we could go back to our old contract. If it isnt
we stay with the erp's for all groups until it is.I know how I'm going
to vote, but I think maybe many people(mechs)will not.Its going to be
a very interesting time ahead.

The pilot contract restores us to what we are making TODAY. In other words, we'll be foregoing all the scheduled wages increases between now and the end of the contract, and EXTENDING the contract to get only back to where we are TODAY. There are no snapbacks. As for why we don't have a shorter contract, please ask your union. The pilots had hoped that could be accomplished. Unfortunately, the Mech contract was dragged out too long and then when we made the first attempt, while yields were trending up, the IAM refused to participate, and like with all debt, the meter kept ticking, requiring a bigger sacrifice later. the length of the term was then dictated by the ATSB (who also dictated no snap backs). But I will again say, once any ATSB backed loans are paid, we can do what we like.

I agree I am voting for the deal even though I
dont like it.Yes im looking forward to spending
time with my grandaughter and kicking back with
a beer and a rod and reel!

If he buffenburger could have done that why didnt he do
it at U ?? The iam thought people couldnt figure
out for themselves thatbk was bad they had a second
vote? keep voting to you get the results you are after
like the democrats in florida trying to steal the election
with unending recounts until they acheived the desired results.
iam is out of here after this vote amfa is going to file
and most airline maint people will be amfa represented that
is what boardroom is really worried about.osv's are in red ink
heavily and the only choice will be to farm out all aircraft
work to bangladesh,or quit coming to your employees after
every contract you sign with them to steal the money back.

Exactly the same with the flight attendants...foregoing any previously negotiated raises, lump-sum payments and wage arbitrations.

We will make what we make today in 5.5 years.

Never said anything about not trying
to make this a better place to work.
Lower level management in MM should be given
some counseling on what that really
means because they dont have a clue.
After the loans are paid in 2008
you think maybe we can get a raise??
Hopefully this will be the last
concessionary contract people will
sign.UAL corp is never ever going
to change their style of dealing
with their employees I'm as sure of
that as our own mortality.

wts54,

The length of these concessionary deals is pretty much dictated by the terms and requirements to get ATSB loan guarantee approval.

Forget about living another day and fighting for a better contract. Considering the situation, how about fighting for a better airline?

Face it, we're all getting the shaft in this deal. But what choice do we really have in turning this company around?

Bob,

Should all of the USAIR and UAL mechanics quit now and seek employment at other airlines so good union members like yourself wont vote to staple their seniority? That was your position regarding the TWA old timers, does it still hold true for you? Or should they hold out, and see if they get merged and/or acquired by good union men like yourself that only looks out for themselves and will gladly staple them to the bottom of the AA list anyway?

RV4.....I asked you a question on another thread and you didn/t answer, but since you kind of brought it up I thought I would ask you here.

You made an allusion that A/A mechanics should be performing the maintenance on Eagle RJ's. If you got your way, what would happen to the Eagle mechanics in the RJ only stations? Furlough?

Sorry to highjack the board UAL....just looking for an answer.
