IAM Fleet Service topic (Mini Thread)

We have another problem with this vote....As of today there are about 2100 rampers that don't pay dues..mostly west employees and east employees hired in the past 3 years or so. By the rules THEY CAN'T VOTE. Who is going to enforce this? The jerkoff union bigwigs want these people to vote so this TA can go through. So how do we stop this??? This should tell you what kind of Union this is...they can't even get whats due to them from this company

The IAM is a joke. Sorry to offend those who it offends, but it is true. A POOR excuse for a union. They do not have their s**t together. I have several examples ranging from the handling of greivances to the simple matter of dues collections. The message should be clear... we have APES running the show for us and do you really think that they have OUR (Fleet Serive workers of USAirways) best interest at hand when it comes to constructing a decent T.A. or regular contract for that matter?? Hell no, look at outsourcing. They are completely willing to let dues paying members get flushed down the toilet for the past 2 rounds of contract negs...and they are endorsing it AGAIN. What union in this nation would ALLOW this? The whole idea behind unionism is to PROTECT its members and the jobs they hold. WTF?!?! This s**t is really pissing me off. We had a Q & A session at my station regarding this T.A. and it is being sold as OUTSOURCING either way you look at it. Vote no and you sign your station away as early as this year. Vote yes, you are signing your station away, but you "bought" 3 years of protection. This stinks! I was happy with the terms of the TWU contract I followed, not this IAM POS. The IAM should take notes from the Longshoreman's union or the BLE (Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers) on how to have some cajones when it comes to unionism...

Quick sidenote: DO you see the CONFLICT of INTEREST?? Canale is on the BOD for United Airlines. He is the Henchman of the USAirways T.A. contract. CLASH!! What side of the fence do you think his loyalty lies? This man is NOT looking out for our best interests.............

I'm still waiting for you to share with us all how the west can be forced into the east contract? Please enlighten us because I'm coming out with a real nice flyer that shows MR, RR that they are full of crap. Randy Canale doesn't have the authority to force the west into the east contract and you know that. Nobody is going to be forcing anything except Randy out of office....soon enough.

In the meantime, this nasty deal needs to be shelved since the merger is going to happen. Fleet has to start preparing for that as opposed to locking themselves in till 2016. No way in hell will you be able to convince anyone that United/American will be friendly enough to open up this rag contract. It's the best contract that management has ever seen and United's own Board member Randy Canale wants to deliver it to them on a silver platter. Also, try convincing anyone that you're idea that United will be a 'nice fella' and allow US AIRWAYS fleet to share in its profit sharing. Good luck with that one my friend. But please answer my question I posed to you so this discussion about forcing the west into the east contract can be furthered. And does use rhetoric, kindly cite documents like I will.

Tim I'd be willing to bet my union dues you never get that from her/him/it

"Sometimes change comes through conflict, but conflict brings opportunity and that is what we have here today. Solidarity in the face of

corporate abuse is an obvious necessity. Unlike managements that have come and gone, we are strongly connected to our company. Therefore it is the

long term solutions for success we seek for our company rather than the short term view that entertains quick profits."

These guys have it right!

Its not just the IAM, TWU was the same. I remember seeing the names of non dues paying rampers written on the bathroom wall. Management encouraged them to start paying, for fear of their safety.

Met recently with someone on the NC. They said they seem to get the feeling that this is going through. Anybody else get that sense? I started as a YES vote but I am now officially going NO. I believe it won't pass.

It appears you work in ICT... you, my friend, have reason to be very concerned, as do the 3 other stations (COS, LGB, TUS) not mentioned on the chopping block in this latest T.A. You folks fall under the "at will" category and are not doing USAirways "work", as so described to me by an AGC recently. You essentially do MESA work, and we all know the status of MESA right now...not good at all. Has their stock dropped under a dollar yet? Not a good position to be in, but then again, none of us are in the greatest position right now with what we are up against. TWU at least protected our jobs, nevermind the lousy pay, but then again, what good is a raise if your job is on the chopping block?

This contract is going down in flames. Like Bigtime. The solidarity Network is solid and our message was not delivered or heard. Canale said our message was a message of anger and He's a real Jack to say that. Our message is not one of anger but one of the resolve to get a fair contract. This contract is the result of a United Airline executive/board member eliminating seniority protections and merger protections for the sake of his interest to the United stockholders.

IMO, the west will be a big NO also although we are still working on that. But if things continue gaining like they are, I'd say this contract will be a big NO systemwide, much greater than the last one.

Wanna hear something funny? We here in ICT know what's down the pipe for us, but if you look at every copy of whatever it is that the union has put out there. Our little ole' station has never been mentioned. So I asked our NC representative about this and they said " Then you are probably safe!" Yeah right. We are nervous, no doubt.

Tentative Agreement Update: 100 LAS Layoffs

LAS was just notified of 100 layoffs at that station. In anticipation of a merger, the merger process is already unfounding before our very eyes. Now everyone can also see why Canale agreed with United and US AIRWAYS to eliminate seniority rights to part time recall positions with this tentative agreement. When more layoffs kickoff, those getting laid off will experience 'great pain' with this new restrictive 'reduction in force' language. Ask yourselves, what the hell was that added for since this isn't traditional bargaining?????

PHX will be the dumping ground and could become PHilly West in 6 months. It is VERY unlikely that the less senior workers in PHX will be able to enjoy their $1 raise after the west gives up all their protectioin. It will continue to be "Tuffa Lucka" to the west as Canale tries to secure the interest of the United stockholders which he is sworn to.

Good thing is that we already laid the groundwork of getting rid of the UA board member who continues to attempt to pimp off fleet service to a merger partner. He will not be around after he gets voted out in June. He will be kicked back up to his United Airline board seat.

Your info is misleading the T/A has nothing to do with the layoffs in LAS, they have cut service there, just like they can cut service anywhere and reduce the headcout.

Trust me me Tim, I know we toast if this goes through. There is only 11 rampers here. I'm sure we are probably smaller than all of the other stations mentioned. If this goes through, my transfer notice goes in the next day. I feel bad for my co workers though, not sure the see the writing on the wall.

Unfortunately, it is not funny. There is NO protection for you with this T.A. offer. It seems your little station gets easily overlooked in the grand scheme of things. I know you guys are there though and you are equally as important to us as any other station! Nobody should be taken for granted and swept aside which is just what this T.A. is doing to you there! I am no happier in my situation, because I, too, am in a station which will be a ghosttown in 3 years if this rag passes. Whoever told you that you are "probably" safe is high on something!!! The odds of probability in this matter stack up against you quickly!

700

Since you have all the answers on all the boards about all the work units....answer me this....YES or NO only ( if you can restrain you intellectual

self ). Would you cut service if you were preparing yourself for a merger and had the ability to reroute passengers in order to diminish overlaping routes?

You're foaming at the mouth to answer more than Y or N !!!!!!!!!!!!!
