For the last two years I have been told that the contract booklets would be ready in 'two weeks'. Now it is closer to two years. Kinda makes me think of the carpet guy I had that said he would finish the job in 'two weeks'.

Is it still 'two weeks'?

Unfortunately, not having the contract booklets was and is one of the worst violations in the contract yet the IAM wasn't able to be victorious in even that simple test of its grievance procedure. Yeah, and how about that iron clad grievance procedure? I couldn't figure out why the IAM was shoeless until it occured to me that the reason was that they dragged their feet so much. The IAM should excuse itself from representation and just stick to the political circuit and credit card stuff that they do so well in.

regards,

I agree with you Tim on that the IAM should EXCUSE itself from representing the Fleet Service. The job they did to the FLEET SERVICE is by far the most UGLIEST thing they did. They even had the balls to raise the dues to make up for the short fall of the workers they sold out from under the bus

Guys,
Apparently you don't understand. The IAM won the only battle that mattered. The only thing they have ever really fought for was to be the union that got elected to represent (?) Fleet. Once they "won" that right...the remaining battles didn't need to be fought. No need to really fight for a better contract for the lowly agents! (hey! remember....we are a "machinest union!) No need to keep in touch with those in stations they represent (?). No need to fight geievencies. Why? The dues were coming in. AGC's in reality can't be replaced by the membership (try to and see where you get)... neither can the union. IAM doesn't have to do anything but continue to collect dues. That's what the IAM does best....NOTHING. (No representation....No copy of contracts...No voice...No NOTHING!)
I'm sorry if you are stuck with the IAM. I'm glad I no longer have any dealing with them. You would be better off if you didn't. Personally, I would rather take my chances with what DP "gave" me with no contract, than to have to "pay dues to the IAM" and still have nothing.

To put it a different way, all Fsa's are UNREPRESENTED DUE'S PAYING members. They get less wages, less benifits, no sick pay, less retirement contributions, less everything when compared to others at non-union carriers, all with the added bonus of paying dues.

All one has to do is read this board, go to most stations to see that the FSA's are ready to dump the iam.

The few iam supporters know they will lose an election. For the last 12 years all the IAM offered were excuses. All they continue to offer is EXCUSES!!!

wait o 700 on here yet? that is amazing I thought he would have defended the so called "contract". I hope the IAM gets bootlicked out of the representation of FSA!

I remember back a few years ago right after 9-11 the mechanics were having big layoffs and MOC maintenance control technicians were bumping the regular mechanics from their positions. No one knew it was allowed in the contract because the IAM failed to make sure the books were printed. These books were supposed to have been printed about two years before and no one was able to figure out what was in the contract because no one had a book. Now days there are concession after concession and the IAM contract book would be hard to keep up to date. Funny how the IAM would sneak stuff into these contracts and fail to mention it to the membership even when the IAM goons were doing their sales pitch.

~Maybe 700 is busy SCABBING the Northwest mechanics along with his IAM pals.

roadtrip, you are too funny!!

But back to the topic. Maybe this is why there aren't any contracts around to provide to the possible "new" members.

Thanks but to answer your question the IAM doesnt want its members to have copies of its pathatic contract its more advantagous to keep them in the dark and just keep collecting there dues.

You know the AGC's have it so tough livin off the backs and wallets of the workers they fail to fight for! Even for the simplest item a copy of the contract the members.

One more reason this voter looks towards the NMB vote and giving the IAM a pink slip.

MOC maintenance control technicians were bumping the regular mechanics from their positions.
Don't recall that exact senario, but I do recall MOC being given an automatic lead time date. Funny how one day they are management and the next day they are in the union and have a lead senority date established?

What happened was the MOC maintenance control technicians voted in the IAM after the IAM promised to give them their mechanic time back. Most of the MOC guys left to become maintenance control supervisors, but since they did not have hire and fire powers they were not considered true management and were permitted to vote in a union. By giving them their mechanic time back it changed to the contract was never told to the membership at large and the mechanic membership was…..never……ever…..permitted to vote on this even though it changed the mechanic’s contract. They IAM whored out the mechanics for dues money without the consent of the members they affected. That was wrong. I can’t stand that SCAB IAM union. They never have done anything for the mechanics at Airways and never will. It was wrong how the mechanics did not find out about this new clause until the new IAM members (MOC technicians) started bumping them out the door.

GREED = IAM

“Taxation without representation!â€￾

The only ones that got lead time are the ones that had lead time. every on in MOC did not get it.

MOC never voted in the IAM. They filled out cards to have a vote and those where sent to the NMB. The NMB ruled that MOC should have always been in the union and so they were accreted into the union. Then MOC/IAM negotiate the letter of agreement.
