A few years back we had an A300 interior check that was moved over to England. Instructors from JFK were assigned to teach these guys the 40 hour Gen/Fam. According to one of the Instructors one student asked "Whats an empenage?" He soon realized that these guys had no aviation background.

Once again the TWUs "ironclad language" did nothing for the A&P.
